Most FND patients are discharged without being provided with access to the multidisciplinary treatment they need. The condition is potentially reversible but without access to a treatment plan the prognosis is deemed poor. FND patients need and deserve a pathway to care.

Please share. FND patients are being harmed, mistreated, and neglected. FND specialized centres are urgently needed to improve patient outcomes.

Patients with FND live with genuine and debilitating symptoms; many of whom have been ignored, invalidated and left to navigate recovery alone.

MA FEMME VÉRONIQUE EST TOUJOURS LÀ POUR VEILLER SUR MOI.
Aujourd’hui encore, pour ce moment important qui est le lancement de mon cinquième
livre, à quelques heures de prendre la parole, j’ai besoin d’elle. Tout près! Je suis touché.

Véronique est la première témoin de tous mes troubles neurologiques fonctionnels et des conséquences dans notre quotidien.

Je veux rendre hommage à cette femme d’exception. Ce n’est vraiment pas facile pour elle de me voir souffrir entre des bouffées de bonheurs.

Ce soir pour le lancement de mon livre, Veronique y sera encore. D’ailleurs, elle lire deux extraits de mon livre. Mais elle va surtout m’accompagner et s’assurer que l’anticipation ne vienne pas perturber la soirée, par des troubles neurologiques fonctionnels, parce que le cerveau se dérègle et envoie les mauvais signaux au corps.

Une chance qu’on ça !!!

Je vais profiter pleinement de cette magnifique journée.

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Migraine are two of the most common conditions seen in neurological practice. The recent Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI) My Neuro Patient Experience Survey showed that FND and migraine were the joint second most common conditions in the adult survey and Migraine was the most common neurological condition to co-exist with FND.

A new paper 'Migraine and functional neurological disorder (FND)—a review of comorbidity and potential overlap' by leading neurologist in FND, Professor Jon Stone and others provides interesting reading. https://academic.oup.com/braincomms/article/7/4/fcaf288/8221965?login=false

Some findings in the paper:

1️⃣ Both conditions significantly impair occupational and social functioning in working-age adults.

2️⃣ Both are clinical diagnoses and can be conceptualized as arising, in broad terms, primarily from disturbance of brain function rather than structural changes to the nervous system.

3️⃣ Both conditions can lead to a wide variety of neurological symptoms, which may be mistaken for one another, and they may also co-exist.

4️⃣ The review suggests increased frequency of migraine in people with functional seizures compared to epilepsy.

5️⃣ Similar to other neurological disorders, migraine is an established trigger of FND.

6️⃣ Robust epidemiological studies evaluating the frequency of FND in migraine are lacking.

7️⃣ The relationship between migraine and FND is poorly studied.
