Congratulations Deb, Amanda, Carrie, and Dorothy for being recognized as Healthcare Heroes!! 👏👏👏👏

These incredible RNs work in the Ambulatory Care Department at Brightshores Owen Sound and were recently recognized for providing exceptional care, not just during a single visit, but every time their nominator comes in for an appointment. Read the kind words from their nominator below:

"For 2+ years, I have regularly utilized the U.V. Booth within the Ambulatory Dept. in Owen Sound Hospital. Every time, I must interrupt the nurses to program the machine for my session and yet Amanda, Carrie, Deb and Dorothy never show any frustration. Without exception, they greet me warmly, by name, as if I am the only patient of their day. They never lapse from protocol, but the human side is also never forgotten. Their genuine warmth is tangible & I am so grateful for their part in my life and my healing." – Christine

Heather is one of our wonderful physiotherapists here at Brightshores Owen Sound who was recently recognized as a Healthcare Hero. She was recognized by a patient who recently underwent shoulder surgery and is extremely impressed how physio has helped her post surgery.

"I am so grateful for the physio I have been receiving from Heather. She is amazing and knows her business. Because of her qualifications, I am way ahead of my time in healing and getting my arm back to full movement. Thank you to those who have supported our Healthcare Hero program by recognizing great care received. It has been so wonderful sharing all of the kind words and personal messages from donors, with staff.

Earlier this week, we were able to go to the Emergency Department (ED) to share a few recent Healthcare Hero nominations with them and also provide them with a pizza party (courtesy of Pizza Hut Owen Sound)! The staff heard phrases such as "excellent care", "a huge thanks" and "you saved my life". Sharing your gratitude is more than just words, it is a reminder that what they're doing matters.

Thank you Owen Sound ED for all your hard work and dedication. We know you are working around the clock to provide excellent care to our community!

Back in November 2025, the incredible ladies of Bernie's Boat Dragon Boat Team donated $5,000 to support breast cancer patients here at Brightshores Health System Owen Sound. Earlier this week, a few of the members were able to come back and see what some of their donation supported.

The Cancer Centre launched Bernie's Boat branded comfort bags, to be handed out to patients undergoing breast cancer treatment. The bags are filled with items such as warm socks, blankets, lotion, crosswords, chocolates and so much more!

Thank you so much to Bernie's Boat for giving back to our community in such a meaningful way. We are so grateful for this amazing group of women whose generosity is bringing comfort and care to breast cancer patients during a very difficult time.
