Who are you hiking for? 💙

Hike for Hospice is just around the corner, and at GBHF, this question means everything.
We hike for loved ones we’ve lost, for those currently facing life-limiting illness, and for the families walking alongside them. This year, we invite you to share your “why.” Who are YOU hiking for?

🥾 Post your story using
🥾 Or email us at hike@gbhfoundation.com

Your story matters and it helps inspire others to step forward and make a difference.

Together, we can raise vital funds to support hospice care across Grey and Bruce. Let’s walk side by side, in memory, in honour, and in support. 💙

🌟 National Volunteer Week Spotlight 🌟

This week, we’re proud to shine a light on the incredible volunteers who make Grey Bruce Hospice and Foundation such a special place. First up is Dennis, one of our dedicated kitchen volunteers 👨‍🍳

We asked Dennis what inspired him to get involved:

💬 “A good friend of ours, Karen Morris, who has been a volunteer for a number of years, mentioned one day that they could use help in the kitchen. She knew I had grown up in a bakery/restaurant and that I also had my own restaurant in the past. I enjoy cooking and baking, so I applied and began the process for acceptance.”

And when asked about a meaningful experience:

💬 “I enjoy being a sous chef with the kitchen staff and assisting with whatever I can. It is always rewarding when a resident or family member says that they enjoyed their meal or ‘that’s how my mom used to make that!’ All the staff and volunteers at Chapman House are so sincere, passionate, and friendly to work with—it’s my pleasure to be able to be part of their community.”

Outside of volunteering, Dennis enjoys woodworking, old vehicles, tinkering, and traveling with his wife, Brenda.

Thank you, Dennis, for sharing your time, skills, and heart with our community 💙

National Volunteer Week is here! 💙

This year, we’re proud to celebrate in alignment with Volunteer Canada and their 2026 theme: “Ignite Volunteerism.” 🔥 This inspiring message shines a light on the power of volunteering to spark connection, compassion, and meaningful change in our communities.

At Grey Bruce Hospice & Foundation, we’re celebrating the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and heart to support those in our care. We have a full week of special events planned to show our appreciation, and can't wait to introduce you to some of the wonderful faces behind it all! ✨

Join us in saying THANK YOU to our volunteers—you help keep the flame of compassion burning bright in our community. 💫

🌟 Exciting News - Get your tickets 🎫

Today, we had the wonderful opportunity to join our friends at 91.3 FM Bluewater Radiofrom the Chesley Community Players to promote their production of Calendar Girls! Some of the proceeds from these performances will go towards supporting the Grey Bruce Hospice Foundation, Chapman House and Saugeen Hospice.

We are incredibly grateful as hospice care is not fully funded by the government—less than 50% of our operational costs are covered. At Chapman House we need to raise over 1.3 million a year to cover the shortfall. Community support like this ensures we can continue providing essential care. 💖

Donation Message from Executive Director

URGENT HELP NEEDED A Message from the Executor Director of the Grey-Bruce Hospice: I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and in good health. As essential service providers, we are closely following all of the government Coronavirus guidelines for the safety of our residents, families, employees and the Grey-Bruce Community. The Grey-Bruce Hospice is a vitally important service in our community and we need your help to assist with the financial challenge we face during the Coronavirus outbreak.

We are asking for donations to help support our Grey Bruce Community Hospice via our fundraising page.

If you are not able to donate, we understand it's a difficult time and ask you to further the cause by sharing our message with friends and family. This unprecedented time has created plenty of concerns for individuals and businesses who struggle to make ends meet and to pay their bills. Many not-for-profit organizations like ours have also been impacted with the struggle to safely deliver essential services. As The Grey-Bruce Hospice was built by our community for our community, our funds are only raised within our community.

That is why the greatest challenge facing The Grey Bruce Hospice during the Coronavirus outbreak is our inability to do our regular fundraising activities. Activities like Casino Night at Legacy Ridge and Hike for Hospice that raise 200k+ per year. What you may not know is that these funds are essential to cover 51% of our costs which are not covered by the government. Meeting our fundraising goals allows us to ease the final journey of over 750 within our community since our doors opened.
