You are what you eat - has so much more meaning now!
It truly matters and I thought if I just grabbed "something" to satiate my hunger and filled my belly that it wouldn't matter what it was I was getting fueled.
I was so wrong - now I choose healthy proteins, fats and carbs - like nuts, seeds or eggs when it comes to adding better nutrition to my diet.
I think better. I feel better and I am most certainly showing up as a better version of myself!

I know that might sound strange… especially when you’ve been told for years that the answer is to find the right one.

I used to think eating less was the answer. Boy was I wrong!

Less food. More control. More discipline.

But the truth?

I was tired all the time.
Craving sugar by mid-afternoon.
Feeling like my body just wasn’t responding anymore.

And I thought it was just… midlife. Again I was wrong...

It wasn’t.

I wasn’t broken.
I was under-fueling a body that needed support.

Once I started focusing on how I was eating,
balancing my meals, prioritizing protein, actually fueling my body >>> everything started to shift.

More energy. Fewer cravings.
A body that finally felt like it was working with me again.

This is the part no one really teaches us.
And it’s why so many women feel stuck.

Midlife "hunger" isn’t the problem.

But I used to think it was. I thought I had no control…
like I was overeating, snacking too much, always thinking about food. It felt like a circus in my head!

So what did I do?

I tried to eat less.
Skip meals.
“Be more disciplined.” Ask me how that all worked!??

And it only made things worse. The circus got louder!

Because the more I under-fueled my body…
the louder the hunger got.

The cravings.
The urgency.
The feeling like I couldn’t stop.

That’s not lack of control.

That’s your body trying to protect you.

When you start fueling your body properly by
balancing your meals, eating enough, supporting your blood sugar...everything shifts. And I mean everything...

Hunger calms down.
Cravings don’t feel so intense.
And you actually feel back in control again. Clearer mind space!

This is the piece so many women are missing.

This is what I eat when I want more energy>>>

And if I’m being honest… this wasn’t always how I ate.

Even as a Culinary Nutrition Expert since 2017, I didn’t fully understand how important protein would become in midlife.

Back then, I was just stepping into this phase.

Now, 10 years later?

I can confidently say this has been one of the biggest shifts in my journey. Can we say GAME CHANGER!

Not more restriction. Not eating less. THANK YOU!

But actually prioritizing protein in a way that supports my body.

And I’m not talking about packaged “high protein” foods…
the wraps, the bars, the cookies with a long list of ingredients.

I’m talking about real, whole food protein.
The kind your body recognizes.
The kind that stabilizes your energy, supports your metabolism, and actually keeps you full. AMEN!

That’s what changed everything for me.

Simple meals.
Built with intention.
Designed to fuel and not fight your body.

It really was more of a mindset shift....
The moment I decided to stop fighting my body, stop treating menopause like a disease and supporting the foundational pieces - wow! What a difference in my energy, focus and clarity.
Once I made the decision that I wasn't fighting but aligning, supporting and giving my body what it actually needed, I am pretty sure I heard it cheer out loud!
No more treating the symptoms, instead I was giving my body, my mind and soul the fuel it needed to build, heal and repair itself.
I gave it the tools it needed to do what it knows what to do and that forever changed how I perceived my health and now I make different choices based on that perception.
This isn't a quick fix but it is easy - just foundational shifts that are whole food based, mindful and builds on what your body knows.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Pretty sure Albert Einstein was onto something when he wrote that quote.
This is often why we feel stuck, we "think we are doing the right things" but we are stuck in a pattern that is giving us the same results.
Until you change the pattern, change the habits and bring in habits that help support your foundation you will often keep spinning your tires, stay on the hamster wheel or go round and round on the carousel (however you want to spin it!).
How fun is it to know that when you change your perception you will change your direction.
Implementing some simple shifts on how you think, act and do will bring you some different results that will inspire you to grow and learn more about your journey.
I promise this isn't hard - it's actually quite simple.
Let's go back to the basics, back to the methods that work and stick to real food, real longevity and build a real strong foundation of health and watch the ripple effect shift in a whole new direction!

Ever wonder why things don't seem to stick?
You fall off the train before it even leaves the station?
Not sure where it all stems from however our society, our North American culture loves to treat the "symptom". In some cases it's like trying to put a band-aid on a bullet wound.
Where I have noticed a shift, a big difference in my health and wellness journey when I focus on adjusting my foundational health I am creating a ripple effect of positive change and the outputs ('My Symptoms') are a clear example of when you shift the inside the outside will change.
There are too many magic lotions, potions and pills out there that are designed to "fix the symptom" so let's go to the root of the problem.
Let's focus on resetting your metabolic health and let's do it with whole foods, movement, more water and mindfulness.

It's not rocket science unless you keep treating the symptom, you may continue to run in circles.
