This is a common one! Does a massage need to be painful to be effective- no!

It totally depends on the individual and their nervous system.

Some people really like deep tissue massage and find it to be more effective for what they need- brings them relief… may also leave you feeling sore for a day or so afterwards.

For others, their nervous system fires during a deep/painful massage which doesn’t allow their body to release the tension- they just grip and hold the muscle tension.

So when you’re laying on the table, unable to let go and breath- it’s a sign it’s too much pressure.

I’m good to check in regularly with where you’re at- but you can always let me know too!

I’m excited to share I have my own space for my massage therapy practice! I’ll now be at the Professional Centre down town (same building as Life Labs).

945 3rd Ave East- unit 22, Owen Sound.

You can access my unit through any of the major entrances- easiest one is the small entrance at the back of the building. Free parking on site.

Questions I like to ask my clients on their follow up visits…

How did you feel after your last session?
How long after did you experience relief for?
Did you feel anything was aggravated?
What did you like about the last session?
Is there anything you didn’t like or feel you need less of?

I like to ask these types of questions on a regular basis to make sure you’re receiving the care you want and need. It’s great if we find a “routine” that works for you… but at the same time I never want any of my clients to feel stuck receiving the same massage. Always communicate your wants and needs, what you thought was effective and wasn’t, and any other thoughts or questions you may have.

I’m always here to listen and adapt accordingly🤍
