Good morning folks!

Friendly reminder that I am out of the clinic for 2 weeks after today. I will be unplugging while I’m away so I will not be responding to any communications until April 29th.

Once I am back I will be in my seasonal hours of Monday-Wednesday, 11am-6pm. I am booking into June but my waitlist is always an option to add yourself to, please add notes when adding yourself to the waitlist.

All active clients or clients currently on the waitlist have online access. Any new clients must contact me to book, even if you add yourself to the waitlist after today, as I am only taking on clients for injury rehabilitation and need to discuss your case before booking.

Take care everyone! 🙌🏻

All clients, please read: Waitlist information

Just clearing up some details about the waitlist feature in my booking system as I currently have 8-10+ people on there daily. These are the followings things I’d like to make known:

• It is very important that you select the days and times that you are available. As best as you can, please make this as accurate as possible. (My hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 11am-6pm)

• When an availability comes up the system will send an email to everyone that is on the list for that day/time once I have checked all the notes (see how I prioritize below).

• Once an email is sent that spot is available for 12 hours and then it becomes open for anyone to book.

***HOW I PRIORITIZE: when you add yourself to the waitlist there is an option to add a note. By adding a note it tells me why you are seeking an appointment and that is how I prioritize the waitlist. If I see anyone on the list for the following reasons; new injury, significant increase in pain levels, missed last appointment or new client referred by another health care professional for injury rehabilitation then I will contact those people prior to sending out an email to everyone else on the list.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your trust in me to help you with your injuries and I will always do my best to get you in as quickly as I can! 🙌🏻

I have exciting news! 🥳

This new assistant of mine is going to be a huge asset in Stretch and Mobility sessions to better prepare the body for all the movements you will be placed in. Percussion tools or massage guns are greatly beneficial for many reasons, but here’s a few:

* Accelerated Muscle Recovery: By boosting circulation and increasing oxygen/nutrients to muscle tissue, they help break down lactic acid, reducing soreness faster after exercise.

* Enhanced Range of Motion (ROM): Studies show significant improvements in joint flexibility and muscle flexibility (e.g., maximum dorsiflexion, hamstring flexibility) without impairing performance.

* Reduced Muscle Soreness and Pain: They effectively treat Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness(DOMS) and decrease spasms by increasing blood flow.

* Increased Blood Circulation: The rapid pulses help stimulate blood flow, reducing muscle inflammation and tension.

* Muscular Relaxation and Stress Relief: They work deep into muscle fascia, breaking up knots (trigger points) and releasing tension.

* Improved Performance: When used in a warm-up, they can prepare muscles for activity, improving performance.

This right here is why I love my job.. getting client feedback like this truly is the best. Both of these reviews are from clients that received Stretch and Mobility sessions.

One client had suffered a spinal fracture from falling on the ice and was in chronic pain for 3 months. After one Stretch and Mobility session she messaged me to say she was feeling great.

The other client is up and down off the floor all day working with young kids and also carrying kids around. Between myself and Dr. Jill (Back Roots Chiropractic) she is having great progress. She notes some tension in her upper back after seeing me, which can be a normal response to having your body worked on but usually relaxes after a couple days.

This is one of the most common questions I ask my clients… what position do you sleep in? 💤 Especially if you are coming...

This is one of the most common questions I ask my clients… what position do you sleep in? 💤

Especially if you are coming to see me for neck, shoulder or arm issues. How we sleep plays a huge role in how our body feels when we’re awake and on the move. Think about it, your body is in a completely relaxed state in this position for hours every day, meaning your pillow and mattress are fully supporting your body.

Pillow and mattress support play a big role in this. Regardless of what position you sleep in, if you’re not properly supported you are inevitably going to end up with pain issues. Plus, if you’re uncomfortable then you’re not having a good, restful sleep which is troublesome in its own ways.

Realistically speaking though, there is no magic formula. We rarely stay in one position the entire night, but we can do our best to accommodate our bodies through the different positions we may move to. Correcting sleeping positions can be tricky, but it can be done, again with the proper support and pillow placement.

Here is a quick visual on how your body should be supported in each position. But you may notice there isn’t an image for sleeping on your stomach.. that’s because it is a terrible position to sleep in regardless of how you’re supported and you should make every effort to correct that because the pain issues won’t stop at your neck, shoulders or arms. It’s awful for your entire spine and hips.

If you have more questions about sleeping positions or how to correct them, send me a message and we can chat! 😊

Just a gentle reminder of my vacation time in April and the upcoming changes in my hours coming in May 😊

In an effort to better manage my waitlist, I have a small request…

When adding yourself to my waitlist, please add a note if you are experiencing any of the following:

• a sudden increase in pain
• have a new injury
• you have been referred by another healthcare practitioner (physiotherapist, chiropractor, physician, etc)

Thank you! 🙌🏻

Did you know? 🤔

In the past two weeks I have had 3 clients present with the possibility of having a blood clot (DVT: deep vein thrombosis) and all were unaware of the severe risks of receiving a massage treatment with the possibility of a DVT so I thought this would be a good opportunity to share some info.

DVT’s can happen to anyone regardless of age, weight, fitness level, etc. Though they are more common in people with older age, obesity, long term immobility (bed rest, travel), injury, pregnancy or underlying health issues. They are also most common in the legs, but can form elsewhere.

Signs and symptoms:
•Swelling in one leg
•Pain, tenderness, or cramping that feels like a pulled muscle (charlie horse like feeling)
•Warm skin or redness/discoloration

If you were to receive a massage treatment with a DVT there is a significant chance of dislodging the clot and having it move throughout the body possibly causing a life threatening pulmonary embolism (blocking blood flow to your lungs).

Due to the increase in circulation caused by receiving a massage in any part of the body, which is often a benefit, it is a full contraindication in this case. Meaning it is unsafe to receive treatment on any body part until a DVT is ruled out or treated.

This is one of many reasons why it is very important to give your health care providers any and all information regarding your health regardless of the area you are receiving treatment.

I am seeing that March is quickly filling up, so I wanted to give a heads up that I will be off for the last 2 weeks of April and once I am back I wil be changing my hours for market season.

⏰ New hours ⏰ (effective May 1st):
Monday: 11am-6:30pm
Tuesday: 11am-6:30pm
Wednesday: 11am-6:30pm
To be clear, that means the lastest appointment timing is 5:30pm.

With some changes coming to our market this year I will have to remain firm in my timings and will not be able to accommodate anything outside of those hours. I ask that you book in advance as much as possible and take full advantage of the waitlist feature on my scheduling system.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out 😊

Good morning folks! I hope everyone is taking snow clean up carefully and not over doing it. Slow and steady! 🪏 ❄️

I wanted to take this opportunity to mention that if ever your faced with school cancellations or not having child care but you still feel you can make it to your appointment, your kiddos are more than welcome to attend your appointments with you. I don’t have much in the way to entertain them, but I have legos and colouring supplies! 😆

But as always, cancellations due to weather will never result in a last minute cancellation fee. Stay safe!
