These coins represent more than time served or projects delivered. They symbolize dedication, teamwork, and the countless small details that come together to create a big impact. Each one tells a story of commitment, collaboration, and pride in the work we do.

We’re grateful for the people who make Genoa what it is, and moments like these remind us how important it is to pause and recognize the achievements along the way.

We’re pleased to share news that after 30 years, Genoa Design International is entering a new chapter.

Genoa Design has agreed to be acquired by Membertou First Nation and Horizon Naval Engineering - a partnership that brings together Indigenous leadership, advanced marine industry experience, and a shared vision for growth in Canada’s shipbuilding sector.

This latest milestone strengthens Genoa’s position as the Digital Ship Experts® and as a leader in detail design while supporting innovation, local talent, and economic development across the marine industry.

Fun Fact Friday: The Newfoundland dockyard in Marystown has been a cornerstone of Canadian shipbuilding since 1966! From building offshore fishing vessels to supporting Arctic and naval operations, this shipyard has shaped Newfoundland’s maritime heritage, building over 50 vessels, from fishing boats to coast guard ships. At its peak, it could lift vessels up to 280 feet long with its massive Syncrolift – a true engineering marvel. Today, it continues to support marine industries while preserving a legacy of innovation and craftsmanship.

We were honoured to take part in the Trees of Joy event with Make-A-Wish—a magical holiday tradition that brings wish kids’ dreams to life, one beautifully decorated tree at a time. Each year, we proudly sponsor a tree in honour and memory of Holly Tocknell, a cherished Genoa team member whose legacy continues to inspire us.

This year, we had the privilege of being paired with Niall, our incredible four-year-old Make-A-Wish kid. Diagnosed at just two years old with a rare disease that required a year of treatment, Niall faced it all with remarkable courage, a bright smile, and endless resilience. Today, he is healthy and thriving.

Events like Trees of Joy remind us what this season is truly about: hope, community, and creating moments that matter. We’re grateful to support Make-A-Wish and to celebrate the strength of wish kids and their families.
