We're excited to announce that our community kitchen series, Gather 'Round, will be hitting the road! The Pye Centre for Northern Boreal Food Systems is partnering with Food First NL to host sessions in Charlottetown and St. Lewis, Labrador! Join us for lots of good food and discussion while we learn new skills together! Our wonderful host and Food Animator, Dana Marshall, will be leading a workshop/demonstration on how to make delicious fruit leather!

We will be in Charlottetown at the Community Recreation Centre on Feb 18 and St. Lewis at the Town Hall on Feb 19. Both Gather 'Round events will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. All are welcome to attend, but space is limited, so please send an email to Dana Marshall at dana@foodfirstnl.ca to reserve your spot.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Have you seen or heard about the new front-of-package nutrition symbol?🔍

🛒Keep an eye out for a new symbol featuring a magnifying glass and the words "High in," which can already be found on some packaged foods. This new symbol can help you identify foods that are high in saturated fat, sugars or sodium!

Regularly consuming foods high in these nutrients can increase the risk of:
✔️ Stroke
✔️ Obesity
✔️ Heart disease
✔️ Type 2 diabetes

This new symbol is designed to help consumers shop smarter and support health professionals in promoting healthier eating.
