We are honoured to share an important milestone in CCPA's Reconciliation journey.

CCPA is creating two new identified Board of Directors positions — Métis Director and Inuit Director — marking a meaningful step toward distinctions-based Indigenous representation at our leadership table.

As First Nations Director Angela Grier reflects: this decision honours the reality that First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples each have unique histories, legal identities, and land-based cultures. Moving from a single "Indigenous" seat to three distinct voices responds to the harm of historical amalgamation and works toward governance that reflects the dignity and sovereignty of each community.
CCPA President George Maringapasi describes this as "a deliberate step toward realizing our aspirations and embodying the spirit of true Truth and Reconciliation."

Nominations are now open for both positions for a one-year term beginning May 2026. Applicants must self-identify as being from the community they are applying to represent. Members may nominate themselves or someone they know.

Nomination deadline: February 27, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.

Date limite : 27 février 2026 à 12 h 00 HE

Behind closed doors, far too many people are suffering in silence.

Gender-based and intimate partner violence is a complex issue that requires a coordinated and multi-jurisdictional response. Women and girls are disproportionately killed by someone they know – most often by an intimate partner or family member.

While there have been positive steps taken towards ending gender-based violence, we still have a lot of work to do.

We all have a part to play in changing the norms, attitudes and behaviors that contribute to gender-based violence. Let’s change how we speak, listen and learn: https://ow.ly/aHSt50Xz7ua
