Carrie Smith RMT

Carrie Smith RMT I am a BC RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) and 6th year student of Osteopathy. I currently have a There is no one size fits all.

Permanently closed.

My name is Carrie Smith and I am a Registered Massage Therapist (2000) and 6th year graduated Osteopathy student from the British Columbia School of Osteopathy. I have worked in physiotherapy clinics (Burnaby), massage therapy clinics (Whistler) and with pre and postpartum mothers (Vancouver). My experience is broad from professional athletes and weekend warriors to desk jockeys, professional moms and retired individuals. I have also worked with children who have physical and mental challenges. I became a therapist because I love the body, everything about it, the way it works, breaks down and how it heals and I wanted to be a part of that system of healing. My goal as a therapist is to assist my patients with their overall health and mobility and help them shorten recovery periods after times of injury or recurrent discomfort. I chose massage therapy because of the hands on approach to dealing with physical pain and dysfunction. After years of working the soft tissue and feeling that my treatments would be more effective if the structure beneath could be handled as well I began my study to become an Osteopath. Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine that sees the body as a functional whole and treats
dysfunction and injury at both the site of pain as well as the underlying causes of that pain or
dysfunction. Using osteopathy we can help bring the container (muscle, bone, soft tissue) the contents (viscera and organs) and the communication (nerves) back into a self – regulating, functioning whole. This results in a treatment plan unique to you and what your body needs. The modalities I use include soft tissue release, active release therapy, joint mobilization, visceral and fascial mobilization, rebalancing central line of gravity, cranial manipulation and many others. The treatment is designed to help with your individual body with your specific needs. To find out if I can help you, come talk to me or send me an email with your question. I will be glad to give you whatever information I can.

Hello everyone!

I am landed in Canada and safe. Upon poking our heads out of the ditch we have discovered a whole new world.

I will be under the 14 day mandatory self isolation at home. I am saddened to say that all appointments during this time will be cancelled. Due to the easy transmission of this virus I understand the necessity of this.

I have been notified that as a hands on non-essential health practitioner I have been mandated to close until further notice.

Over the next few days I will be trying to reorganize my schedule to accommodate everyone to the best of my ability.

Again I apologize for this inconvenience. I am lucky to have such an amazing client base and I am excited to have this hurdle passed and move on.

Stay safe, wash your hands before they come close to your face and keep smiling.

Carrie
