West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) is delighted to announce the birth of the first baby born at WPSHC in 2026. At 10:51 P.M on 02 Jan, WPSHC welcomed Izzy Belle, a healthy baby girl weighing six pounds and eight ounces.

Izzy was born to proud parents Rhea and Patrick. This is a particularly special milestone, as Patrick is a highly valued employee here at WPSHC.

This first arrival of 2026 was made possible thanks to the care, compassion and expertise of our Obstetrics, Labour and Delivery team.

The WPSHC Team extends its heartiest congratulations to the family and wishes them – and all families welcoming babies in 2026 – all the very best for this exciting new chapter in their lives.

The West Parry Sound region has many creative healthcare programs that help people stay healthy and feel connected at every age. The West Parry Sound Ontario Health Team (WPS OHT) is proud to have supported the continuation and expansion of a Virtual Reality (VR) program led by the Parry Sound Family Health Team.

This program brings fun and meaningful VR experiences to older adults and seniors living in long-term care homes, retirement homes, group living settings, and to people with mobility, memory, or other challenges. These experiences help reduce loneliness, lift spirits, and create moments of joy and connection.

So far this year, the VR program has taken place at Gardens of Parry Sound, Lakeland Long Term Care, The Friends, Serenity Home, Community Living, and the West Parry Sound Health Centre. It has even reached some people in their own homes! More than 620 residents, 60 family members, and 170 staff have taken part.

This project is one of many ways the WPS OHT supports teamwork, connection, and new ideas in healthcare across West Parry Sound.

Way to go Parry Sound Family Health Team!

This year, the Virtual Reality program was funded by the Government of Ontario.
