Xmas Break Community Drop-In – All Ages Welcome

The Social Wellbeing Department is opening a safe, warm community drop-in space throughout the holiday break for anyone who needs somewhere to go. From December 20 to January 3, the Youth Building will be open most afternoons and evenings for relaxed social time, hot drinks, light snacks, and connection.

Families and community members are encouraged to bring games, crafts, books, or anything you’d like to share in the space. This is a calm, supportive place to visit, take a break, and spend time with others during the holidays.

We are also looking for community volunteers to help keep the drop-in running. If you can spare a little time, please leave your name, phone number, and the days you’re available.

Let’s come together and create a safe, welcoming space for our families this holiday season.

Holiday Mental Health Tip #4: Zhezhkaatowin (Decline)

It's common to over-book yourself or say 'yes' to everything because you fear saying 'no'. This can lead to resentment and burnout. It's okay to say 'no'.

A CHRISTMAS MESSAGE TO OUR COMMUNITY & CANCELLATION NOTICE🎄

Due to unforeseen circumstances, unfortunately our community Christmas dinner is cancelled.

Christmas has a way of bringing everything to the surface — the joy, the memories, the longing, and the deep care we have for one another. While the Christmas Dinner has been cancelled, what remains is something just as powerful: community, kindness, and connection.

Every donation, every offer of help, and every thoughtful gesture came from a place of generosity and love. Those gifts have been shared with the Drop-In, with remaining items going toward Little Christmas. Thank you for showing up with such open hearts.

This season, we gently encourage everyone to check in on one another. Reach out to a neighbour, call a friend, invite someone over who may be on their own, share a meal, or start a new tradition. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones we create when plans change.
