We are so proud to share something truly important for our community.

On May 21, we will be opening Gaananagdwinmigoo — “I Will Take Care of You”, a new Indigenous Safe Home created with care, compassion, and the wellbeing of our people at its heart.

This space will be open 24/7, offering a safe, confidential, and culturally grounded place for individuals and families experiencing domestic or intimate partner violence. It’s a place where people can come as they are — to feel supported, respected, and cared for.

Rooted in our values, this home will offer connection to Elders, culturally appropriate supports, and trauma-informed care focused on healing and strength. It reflects what we already know to be true — that when we take care of one another, our whole community becomes stronger.

If you or someone you love may need a safe place, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You are not alone, and support is here.

Together, we continue to build a community grounded in safety, respect, and kindness.

A reminder of the Red Dress Day Round Dance tomorrow (May 2nd).

Out of respect, we want to acknowledge that our Pipe Carrier is unable to join us as he takes time to care for his health. We lift him up in a good way and wish him strength and healing.

A new Pipe Carrier has been confirmed, and the ceremony will continue in a good, steady way. The heart of this gathering — honouring our MMIWG2S relatives — remains unchanged.

Miigwetch and we hope to see you out!

Today, we celebrate our First Responders!

You put yourself on the forefront of emergencies in order to protect our safety and wellbeing. Whether you're a firefighter, police officer, emergency medical technician, 911 operator or paramedic, we can all rest assured knowing you have our backs.

Take a moment today to thank a First Responder.

We want to give a little extra love to our Wasauksing Fire Fighters as they stay ready and prepared to protect us and the community. Miigwetch!
