The Death Cafe is coming to Peace River for a meeting. What is a Death Cafe? It is a space where all are invited to discuss death, community, and end-of-life with no agenda and no set conclusions. It is simply a space for sharing and discussion. The meeting takes place here at the library on April 16th at 6:30 PM and will be facilitated in partnership with the Peace River Palliative Care Society and Peace Valley Funeral Home. For more information, visit www.deathcafe.com.

Did you know all funeral homes in Alberta are regulated?

Funeral homes are licensed and regulated through the Alberta Funeral Services Regulatory Board (AFSRB).
This organization oversees funeral homes, crematoriums, funeral directors, embalmers, and pre-need contracts across Alberta to ensure proper standards, licensing, and consumer protection are followed.

If families ever have questions, concerns, or complaints about funeral services they have received in Alberta, they can contact the AFSRB directly. This helps ensure accountability, professionalism, and proper care across the entire funeral profession.

At Peace Valley Funeral Home, we are proud to say we have always been in excellent standing with the AFSRB and have consistently met and exceeded inspection standards.
You can trust that we hold ourselves to the highest standards of care, professionalism, and accountability for every family we serve.

Kristi and Shauna really enjoyed attending the Business Bites event at the Krooked House in Grimshaw yesterday. It was great to see so many businesses represented and to hear about all the wonderful things happening in our communities. We are proud to be part of such a supportive and connected community.

Our very own Kolton, based in our Peace River location, not only engraves our monuments, urns, and crystal keepsakes, but he now engraves jewelry as well. We are very proud to be able to offer all of this in house for the families we serve and our community as a whole.
If you haven’t followed our Peace Valley Creations page yet, we invite you to give it a follow to see the custom pieces and meaningful items we create for all of life’s moments.

Kolton – the man behind the laser!
We now engrave jewelry in house ✨
Bring your own piece or choose from ours and make it personal 💍📿♥️

No matter your age, pre-planning your funeral is one of the most thoughtful gifts you can leave your loved ones.💙 Give us a call to book an appointment with one of our director's.

After the funeral, once the phone calls and visitors stop, people are often met with feelings of loneliness and isolation. There is no longer the distraction of planning the service, and the new reality begins to set in.

If you are the Executor/Executrix, there is often an overwhelming list of things to get done in what feels like a short amount of time. If you are the surviving spouse, responsibilities that were once taken care of, or divided, are now thrust upon you solely.

While the days leading up to the funeral and the funeral itself can be healing, there is a darkness that many people experience from the finality of a funeral. Be sure to continue to check in on the survivors even after the funeral day has passed - this is often when they need your support most.

Our Story

Doug and Eunice opened Bear Creek Funeral Home in December, 2012, with the vision of “caring for each as our own”. Since then, we’ve served hundreds of Peace Country families. Summer of 2016 we opened our second location in Fairview, the home town of our Funeral Director Kristi Heck. Formerly Bear Creek Funeral Home Fairview, has now changed its name to Peace Valley Funeral Home, and is locally owned by Kristi and her brother Kolton Heck along with partners Doug and Eunice Friesen. We are proud to serve, Grimshaw, Peace River, Manning, High Prairie, High Level, Worsley, Spirit River, Valleyview, Falher, and everywhere around and in between. We can meet with you in our office, online through email, Zoom, or in the comfort of your own home.

Our warm and genuine staff are dedicated to each family we serve, from the moment of the first call through our aftercare program.

Families can expect compassionate care, a high standard of service, responsible pricing, with family centered care, from Peace Valley Funeral Home.
