In our work, we are privileged to witness the impact men make in the world; in the memories shared, the lessons passed down, the laughter remembered, and the love that continues long after they’re gone.

Today we celebrate the strength, kindness, resilience, and compassion of men—both here with us, and those we hold in our hearts. May we continue to appreciate, support, and encourage the men in our lives every day.

Here are some funeral-related facts about men we thought were interesting:
1. Sons are more likely to act as primary decision makers during arrangements
2. Men are less likely to talk about their end-of-life wishes
3. Pallbearers historically were and continue to be primarily men
4. Embalming in North America was pioneered by men during the Civil War
5. In the 1800's - 1900's when funeral homes became official businesses, they were almost entirely male-owned and male-operated

Our Story

Doug and Eunice opened Bear Creek Funeral Home in December, 2012, with the vision of “caring for each as our own”. Since then, we’ve served hundreds of Peace Country families. Summer of 2016 we opened our second location in Fairview, the home town of our Funeral Director Kristi Heck. Formerly Bear Creek Funeral Home Fairview, has now changed its name to Peace Valley Funeral Home, and is locally owned by Kristi and her brother Kolton Heck along with partners Doug and Eunice Friesen. We are proud to serve, Grimshaw, Peace River, Manning, High Prairie, High Level, Worsley, Spirit River, Valleyview, Falher, and everywhere around and in between. We can meet with you in our office, online through email, Zoom, or in the comfort of your own home.

Our warm and genuine staff are dedicated to each family we serve, from the moment of the first call through our aftercare program.

Families can expect compassionate care, a high standard of service, responsible pricing, with family centered care, from Peace Valley Funeral Home.
