Lyme. It's here. As you know, I don't post a lot about work. This, however, is of utmost importance. Early recognition and treatment can be the difference between full recovery vs. years of complex chronic illness. This lesion, on the upper thigh, occurred about 1 week ago. Diameter ~2". Mildly itchy. Patient cannot be tested at this time, due to relatively recent exposure. Tick can only be tested if found and retained. Lyme expert was consulted. Treatment recommended and prescribed.

Iron deficiency can occur due to a variety of reasons, including monthly periods, dietary issues, pregnancy, medical conditions such as IBS or gastric ulcers, or inability to take iron supplements by mouth. This can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, inability to focus, shortness of breath or chest pain, brittle nails, hair loss, or generalized weakness. Iron infusions deliver iron through an IV, boosting iron levels quickly. Treatments usually take 30-60 minutes.
