🇨🇦 Remembrance Day 🇨🇦

Today, we take a moment to pause, reflect, and remember the brave men and women who have given so much for our country. Their courage, strength, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🌺

As a nurse and foot care provider, I’ve had the honour of caring for some of our incredible veterans — each with a story that reminds me how deeply freedom is earned. It’s truly a privilege to serve those who once served us. ❤️

From Julie’s Community Foot Care, we thank you.
Lest we forget.

👣 Meet Julie Brochu Simard, Foot Care Nurse

Hello everyone! My name is Julie Brochu Simard, and I’m proud to call Fort-Coulonge, QC my hometown.

After graduating high school, I moved to Sudbury, where I completed my Nursing program at Collège Boréal, graduating in 2014 🩺. In 2016, I returned to Renfrew County and began working as a Home Care Nurse, a role I loved and held for 10 years.

Throughout those years, I saw firsthand how much foot care was needed in our community. This inspired me to complete the Foot Care Nursing program at Centennial College in Toronto.

I began offering foot care services while on maternity leave with my sweet Emma 🥰, simply as a way to get out of the house for a day. What started small quickly became a passion — and seven years later, I’m thrilled to now be offering Foot Care full time! ❤️

I proudly serve clients across Renfrew County, covering areas from Mackey (Deep River) all the way to Renfrew, including Deep River, Chalk River, Petawawa, Pembroke, Cobden, Beachburg, LaPasse, Westmeath, Golden Lake, Eganville, Douglas, and more! You’ll also find me in Deep River Hospital and Quail Creek (Chartwells).

My goal is simple — to provide quality, compassionate foot care while taking the time to connect. I love having a good chat during visits and ensuring everyone receives the care they need in a comfortable, unhurried environment.

I’m also fully bilingual (French & English), and happy to offer care and conversation in whichever language you’re most comfortable with. 🇨🇦💬

Thank you for your continued support — I’m so excited to continue doing what I love, full time! ❤️

Many people struggle with toenail clipping, and it usually comes down to a mix of physical, medical, and practical reasons.

1. Limited flexibility & mobility

As people age, joints (especially hips, knees, and back) can become stiff or arthritic, making it hard to bend down or reach their feet.

2. Changes in nails

Toenails often get thicker, harder, and more brittle with age, sometimes due to reduced circulation, fungal infections, or just natural changes. Thick nails are much harder to cut.

3. Vision problems

Poor eyesight makes it difficult to see what they’re doing, increasing the risk of cutting too deep or missing parts of the nail.

4. Decreased strength & coordination

Grip strength and fine motor skills may decline, so handling nail clippers precisely becomes tough.

5. Medical conditions

Conditions like diabetes, poor circulation, or neuropathy make feet more sensitive and prone to injury, so clipping nails feels riskier.

Swelling in the feet or toes can also make the nails harder to reach or cut.

6. Fear of injury

A small cut can lead to infection, especially for someone with diabetes or poor healing, so many elders avoid doing it themselves.

That’s why foot care nurses often step in to help with routine toenail care.🥰🥰🥰
