Come Join our team at Spokes Clinic!

We are moving into our beautifully renovated office at 659 Main Street in Penticton next week. We are looking for licensed health professionals to join myself (Bryn Bentham, ND) and Tammy Twyne BSc PT. We are open to licensed and registered health professionals including Therapists/Counsellors, RMTs, PTs, Chiropractors, and ND's, MD's.. among others.

Pricing is dependent on whether structure as a straight room rental or whether you also want us to provide reception services, scheduling, payment processing, cleaning, etc.

The building is in a high visibility location that is easy to find and lots of parking. "We're three doors down from Theos" is easy way to help people know exactly where to find you. When we planned the renovation we wanted to ensure the end product represented our values of clean air, water, and natural light as much as possible.

The updates and details include but are not limited to:
1. Polished concrete with in floor radiant heat and refinished Fir hardwood floors in the treatment rooms
2. Soundproofing between treatment rooms;
3. Keyed lockable doors for each treatment room;
4. A brand new HVAC system so every room controls it's own temperature;
5. Clean air and water - an HRV system to constantly bring fresh air in and stale air out of the building and purified drinking water from a faucet;
6. Staff washroom and staff/break room;
7. Free parking on site;
8. Natural light in all the treatment rooms either via window or skylight;
9. One available room has a sink;
10. Wood burning fireplace in the main area;
11. Your name on the glass in the front of the building;

There is free staff parking at the back, and there is ALWAYS street parking on the 600 block of Main Street.

Fibromyalgia is probably my favourite non-diagnosis. Fibromyalgia is the label you get when your doctors don't know what to do with you and you have tender points that match up with the image attached. It's a syndrome thought to be because of problems in the muscles or in your brains ability to perceive or modulate pain signals. Symptoms include chronic "muscle" pain, fatigue, sleep problems, and painful tender points or trigger points. The reason conventional treatment (medications like antidepressants, counselling, stress management, etc) are so underwhelming is that they do not address the problem. Every one of those sore spots on the picture corresponds to a place where the nerves that innervate your skin pop through the fascia (connective tissue) or over a bone. If there is pressure on the nerve at that point it will swell on either side of the fascia and lock itself in place. It will then start painfully limiting your range of motion (nerves don't stretch) and start churning out neurogenic inflammation (different than other types of inflammation) which results in more pain sensitivity in the whole area supplied by that nerve. These chronic constriction injuries (as they're called) respond very well and very quickly to what is called "hydrodissection" or injecting a small amount of mild sugar solution akin to saline to open up the constrictions from the inside. Pain relief is usually within about 30 seconds.
