HEU Penticton Local The HEU Penticton Local page has information on bargaining, education and training opportunities, health and safety, current events, human rights, and more.

The Hospital Employees' Union is the oldest health care union in British Columbia – representing more than 43,000 members working for public, non-profit and private employers. And as the B.C. health care services division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), HEU is part of the biggest union in Canada. HEU members work in all areas of the health care system – acute care hospitals, residential care facilities, community group homes, outpatient clinics and medical labs, community social services, and First Nations health agencies – providing both direct and non-direct care services. Since 1944, HEU has advocated for better working and caring conditions, defended public health care delivery, and spoken out against privatization. HEU has a long history as a strong, democratic, socially-conscious union and a passionate defender of Canada's universal, public health care system. Working in solidarity with labour and community allies, HEU is committed to social justice and advancing labour and human rights on a global level.

Have you ever wondered how HEU became the biggest Healthcare Union in BC? Those early members were motivated to improve working conditions for themselves and caring conditions for their patients and residents. As HEU organized more workplaces across BC, members united to bargain strong agreements and defend public health care.

From winning gender-based pay equity, to securing protective equipment for more workers during the pandemic, to fighting to reverse privatization, HEU members look out for one another – and have for eight decades.

After another fantastic Facilities Bargaining Conference, delegates have elected the next Facilities Bargaining Committee.

This committee, which has just spent the last three days discussing bargaining demands, will sit at the bargaining table and represent all members in the Facilities Bargaining Association (FBA) as they negotiate the next FBA collective agreement.

Leave a ✊ in the comments to show how FBA members stand united as we head into bargaining in 2025.
