Osteoporosis is a bone disease that occurs when the body loses too much bone, makes too little bone, or both. As a result, bones become weak and may break from a fall or, in serious cases, much smaller impacts.

However, being physically active can turn things around for those with conditions such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. That’s the power of exercise.

Exercise impacts health, but it must be the right exercise. Controlled movements that build strength and range of motion are ideal. A combination of activities, such as swimming, cardio gym machines and low-impact aerobics, can be effective. However, weight-bearing exercise works best to help you manage osteoporosis.

A chiropractor can prescribe a therapeutic exercise program to help increase your strength and range of motion in affected areas that will ultimately help manage osteoporosis.

On October 16, World Spine Day raises awareness of spinal pain and disability, which affect people of all ages worldwide. The 2025 theme "Invest in Your Spine," highlights the importance of proactive spinal care for lifelong health and well-being.

Today is Rowan’s Law Day – a day to raise awareness about concussions and the importance of safety in sports.

A concussion isn’t “just a bump on the head” — it’s considered a mild traumatic brain injury.

✅ Know the signs and symptoms which include: headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, sensitivity to light/sound.

If you suspect a concussion, make sure the athlete is removed from play and properly assessed by a trainer and/or healthcare provider with training and knowledge in concussion management.

If an athlete sustains a concussion, proper healing and recovery is very important, with rest and rehabilitation (i.e. chiropractic care, physiotherapy, massage therapy) playing a integral role.

By learning and sharing this knowledge, we help keep athletes of all ages safe.
