Now it’s bedtimes and backpacks.
Packing for dorm rooms.
Watching your babies become something more.
Shorter days. Longer nights.
The tug of war between living in the now and preparing for what's next.
Hearts a little tender with goodbye.

how you’ll adjust to the silence, the shift, the new normal.

As a therapist, a woman, and a hockey mom, I can’t stay silent.
The recent acquittal in the Hockey Canada case has left many of us feeling shaken, angry, and disheartened—not just about what happened in that hotel room, but about what we continue to normalize in sport and culture.

I’m raising boys who’ve grown up in the game. I’ve spent years at the rink, watching them learn discipline, connection, and resilience. But I’m also raising sons who need to know that consent matters more than any championship. That silence and complicity are not strength. And that who they are off the ice matters just as much as who they are on it.

Here’s why it matters: We often overlook our true achievements because they don’t match the vision we once had for ourselves. But life doesn’t always follow a straight path, and those unexpected detours often teach us lessons we couldn’t have learned on the road we planned.
