What is YOUR crow? ⏬

Accessible yoga is about identifying the essence of a pose and capturing this no matter the iteration. In all these variations of crow pose, the adductor muscles are being activated as they press against the arms. Even while lying on the back, the arms can be strengthened through isometric contraction.

While different variations might target certain areas of the body more or less, the notion that one version of a pose is “better” than any other is hogwash. 

The reality is that we all arrive on the mat with different mobility ranges, limb ratios, levels of strength, and degrees of energy.

So instead of allowing these to be sources of shame and regret, I invite you to embrace exactly where you are in each moment, while loving keeping in mind your goals.

My aim as a yoga guide is for you to feel supported and encouraged to find an option for each movement/pose that feels aligned for exactly where you are now. 

This letting go of judgment and comparison and cultivation of compassion is part of the deeper practice of yoga- where the true transformational power lies. 

I invite you to join me on a 5-week yoga series, Meet the World, where you will be guided through a series of poses to stretch and strengthen while exploring how yogic wisdom can help us to Meet the World in all its complexity, ugliness, injustice and beauty.

Props and mats provided.

Yoga dangerous, REALLY?! 🤨

Yes, really. Specifically to the structures and powers that are trying to oppress and keep us complacent. 

I had the pleasure of attending ‘s Materclass last night titled “Yoga won’t Save us, but it can Make us Dangerous” and I am excited to share some key take aways: 

🌟 Authentic yoga is more than peace, love and light (and more than stretching and lying down!). It's an embodiment of philosophical teachings that provide guidance on how to be in the world and relate to oneself.

Practiced this this way...

🏋️‍♂️ Yoga can be a revolutionary force for resilience, power and belonging in the real world 
✊ Yoga can help us disrupt oppression and destabilize hierarchies
❤️ Yoga can help us foster liberation, unity, and radical love in action 

🌏 We are not the first to face oppression- we can lean on the wisdom of our ancestors 

These, in addition to thoughts on Rebellious Rest, will be part of what we will explore, in an embodied way, in the upcoming yoga series Meet The World. 

It’s one thing to read an IG post about it, but it’s a whole other experience to feel the weight and power of these teachings while moving your physical body in community with other like minded folks.

What is YOUR lunge? ⏬

Accessible yoga is about identifying the essence of a pose and capturing this no matter the iteration. In all these variations of a lunge, the hip flexor is getting a nice stretch and the feet/ knee are grounding into the earth to find stability.

Ima be real with you all.

My original vision for this series was for it to be a welcoming of the Spring season. As I crafted a description using words like "fresh beginnings" and "blooming", I couldn't help but feel like it was a little off the mark when considering the current cultural climate in which we find ourselves. A climate where there is uncertainty at best and utter despair at worst.

I got an email from , whose work in decolonizing yoga I deeply admire, reminding me that now is the time when yoga is more needed than ever. To quote her below:

"Yoga has never been about bypassing pain - it’s about meeting it.

🔥 The breath that steadies us so we can stay in the fight.
🔥 The discipline that keeps us showing up, even when it’s messy.
🔥 The practice that teaches us to hold rage, grief, love, and resilience all at once.

Listen, this is what yoga is for.

Right now, a lot of people feel helpless.

And let’s be real - those trying to control this world want us to feel that way.

Because if we feel powerless, we don’t act.

We stay numb. We stay complicit. We "send thoughts and prayers" and move on.

But real yoga reminds us that we are not powerless.

We are made for this."

So I am taking a risk and offering up a yoga series where we will not spiritually bypass the world, but explore together how the practice and teachings of yoga can support us in meeting the world.

I'm no expert in this, but will be drawing inspiration and guidance from Susanna and others who are tapping into the power of yoga to navigate turbulent times.

If you are interested in exploring yoga in this way, then consider joining me for this series! Just to be clear, the classes will be mostly asana (physical poses) with wisdom teachings integrated throughout. There will be a variety of options for you to choose from according to what you wish to get out of the series and what suits your body best.
