Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation

Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation We are an independent, registered charity. Together, and with your support, we can make this ambition a reality.

We raise funds to help renovate and maintain our County Hospital and are raising funds for our new hospital in Prince Edward County. Founded in 1985, the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) has an opportunity to design the future of healthcare in our community. The Foundation raises money to help achieve this vision through building infrastructure and maintenance, for the purchase of high-priority equipment needed for patient care, and for medical innovations that will transform how our hospital delivers care and improves the lives of all County residents and visitors.

Care Champion Spotlight – Dr. Portt 🩺🧡 Today, we’re sharing one of the sweetest Care Champion recognitions yet — a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Portt, submitted by a very grateful patient… age 5! 💬✨

💬 “To Dr. Portt: Thank you for fixing my cut and giving me 4 stitches. You were really nice and made me feel brave even though I was a little scared. My stitches don’t hurt now, and I think you did a really good job! I also like the clamp you gave me — it’s my special doctor tool! Thank you for helping me feel better.”
— Grateful Patient, age 5 🧸💉

📝 From Mom:
"Thanks for all the work you and the Foundation do for the community, and all the best for finishing 2025 off strong.”

This recognition is a beautiful reminder that small acts of care can make a huge difference — especially for our littlest patients. Thank you, Dr. Portt, for your kindness, professionalism, and for making a scary moment a little less scary. 💙

🩺💙 Care Champion Spotlight – PECMH Nurses & Staff have been recognized as Care Champions for their kindness, compassion, and outstanding care.

💬 From a grateful parent:
“Each time I’ve needed care, I’ve been met with kindness, understanding, compassion, and respect. I recently visited twice with my young daughter, and everyone was so gentle and reassuring with her. The staff made the experience as smooth as possible for both of us. I never felt judged for my concerns—only cared for. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

This recognition speaks to the strength of the entire team, whose professionalism and empathy shine through in every interaction. 🌟

According to local folklore, once every winter (for the last four years), the ice at the Prince Edward Curling Club becomes smoother than a Heritage Minute voiceover and shinier than a fresh tin of maple syrup.

That day is approaching.

Join us Saturday, January 24th for the County Classic Bonspiel, where:
🥌 Rocks glide like they’ve got somewhere important to be
🍁 Flannel becomes a competitive advantage
🧊 The ice sparkles like a fresh winter morning in cottage country

Our Story

We are an independent, registered charity. We raise funds to help renovate and maintain our County Hospital and to purchase medical equipment such as vital signs monitors, vital diagnostic tools, scopes and much more. Your financial contributions have allowed us to invest over $7M in our County Hospital. Unlike operating costs, medical equipment is NOT paid for by the government. Communities must equip their local hospital. Your support means we have reliable equipment. That helps the hospital keep services cost effective and available close to home.
