In a study, scientists wanted to see if a special homeopathic treatment could help plants grow better when they are exposed to too much zinc, which is a metal that can be harmful in large amounts. They used a plant called Lepidium sativum (garden cress) and looked at how it responded when exposed to different levels of zinc.

Without the treatment, high levels of zinc made the plants grow poorly and lose their green color. The plants also produced less chlorophyll (the green pigment important for photosynthesis) and more of a substance called MDA, which appears when plants are under stress. The zinc affected important plant enzymes—these are like the “workers” in cells that help plants stay healthy by managing stress and breaking down harmful substances.

When the scientists added the homeopathic treatment, the plants grew better, kept their green color, and produced more antioxidants. Antioxidants are like protective shields that help plants fight off stress from things like too much zinc. This study suggests that the treatment helped the plants by lowering the zinc levels in their roots and leaves and reducing damage caused by the zinc.
