Join us this in celebrating Grey Zone Psychology & Wellness who recently earned program certification! Grey Zone is a private practice centre and is also the only certified comprehensive program in Quebec, Montreal.

When asked “Why Certification Matters?,” they shared “Program certification for us demonstrates our commitment to DBT as well as maintaining a level of quality that sets the bar at its highest. We hope that our clients feel our genuine commitment to them when they know the work we put into upholding the highest standard of care.”

When asked “What Did Your Program Gain Through The Certification Process?,” they shared “The certification process brought so much growth to our team. Through the interviews and feedback process, many members of the team felt validated in both our struggles as well as all the work we put into our program. This process brought up so much learning as well as validation and we continue to use the feedback we received in all areas to help us deliver the best program we can.”

The team was asked what was the best advice they received during the certification process and they shared “to not let our clients 'shape us out' of doing diary cards! We are all faced with the challenge of sitting with our own discomfort when it comes to holding limits with our clients and this was a great piece of advice that we all remember!”

Grey Zone also shared that their advice for other teams is “To make sure to carve out time for fun. We believe that the key to the success of this team is the relationship we have with one another. As tacky as it might sound, without trust, respect, and genuine fun, this work would be SO much harder to do. Having a team that makes us proud to be a part of and supported in the good times as well as the not-so-good is what makes it all work."

Notre histoire/Our Story

-- Melissa Stern is a doctoral graduate in School/Applied Child Psychology at McGill University. Melissa has completed her clinical training and has several years of professional experience conducting therapy and psychological/psychoeducational assessments in various clinical settings such as in private practice, hospital outpatient clinics, as well as the McGill University Assessment Clinic. In particular, Melissa completed a year of training at the Jewish General Hospital Child Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic as well as at the Douglas Institute Child and Adolescent Depressive Disorders Clinic. Melissa’s specialized training permits her to provide therapy to children, adolescents, young adults with a wide range of difficulties as well as their parents. Melissa employs a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework in her practice. However, she incorporates a variety of empirically-based approaches, such as Mindfulness and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to better meet the needs her clients. This eclectic approach provides a better understanding of her client’s difficulties and equips them with the tools they need to increase their well-being and their current level of functioning. Furthermore, her authentic, empathetic and open-minded approach allows for children, adolescents, and their parents feel comfortable in therapy. Melissa is bilingual and can respond to client requests for therapy and/or assessment in French and English. Evaluations also available: ADHD, Academic (learning difficulties), early school entry (derogation), and emotional difficulties. Children, adolescents and adults.
