Time for a re-intro: I’m Meaghan, and LDA/NPE in reunion with some family members. It has been almost 9 years since discovery. These are pics of me with my husband, son, and daughter. I have learned so much about myself since discovery and have appreciated support from the adoptee community. I’m a creative who writes. I also make pottery and other art. I work with adoptees, youth and families as a counsellor. I love nature! I’m writing a book about late discovery adoption for LDAs/NPEs/MPAs/LDDC, their parents, and their therapists. Healing happens in the context of the family and community, so I hope I can create something that will help us in our healing! Feel free to reach out or DM if you need support or wish to connect.

With family day around the corner, and life still a little bit upside down for many, below are some ideas to incorporate play into your weekend together! Play and good food tell our nervous system we are safe and support bonding, so have a great weekend! .... Do a puzzle, go to the park, go to a new park, go for a nature walk, collect things in nature and make art with them, take pictures, read stories, read or create a choose your own adventure, play board games, watch a movie, have a family dance party, do face painting, paint a bird house, plant some flowers, spend time with some animals, play video games together, have a campfire, make a meal the kids get to plan, bead bracelets, build a lego town, facetime an extended family member, go to the beach, drink yummy warm drinks... I'm sure you all have some ideas I haven't thought of, feel free to share in the comments :) Wishing you all a great long weekend!
