1.Use facial massage at any age:
It relaxes muscles, improves their tone, boosts blood circulation, delivers nutrients to skin cells, normalizes lymphatic drainage, and speeds up toxin removal. It helps reduce puffiness, accelerates skin renewal, and aids in restoring the epidermis. It’s beneficial even for young women.
2.Massage your face regularly:
Gentle massages can be done daily. For deeper impact, do them every 7-10 days after turning 30, or in courses of 10-15 sessions, 3-4 times a year. You’ll notice the effects after the first session, and they’ll intensify with regular use.
3.Massage along facial lines:
There are specific lines on the face called massage lines. Any skincare activity—massaging, applying cream, cleansing—is best done along these lines. This reduces the risk of stretching the skin and enhances lymphatic drainage, aiding in quicker reduction of puffiness. Look at a diagram of these lines and try to follow them.
4.Massage for muscle spasms and headaches:
Facial massage isn’t just for cosmetics; it’s also used medically, especially for relieving facial muscle spasms and tension headaches. Muscle spasms affect the temporomandibular joint, teeth, and contribute to wrinkle formation. Massaging influences deep layers of facial and chewing muscles, relaxing them. Research from 2015 also confirms that the procedure reduces the frequency of tension headaches. Such facial massage is particularly beneficial after 40-50 years.
5.Avoid facial massage under certain conditions:
Self-facial massage is generally safe and doesn’t cause complications. However, in some conditions, any facial intervention is contraindicated—such as inflammation, acne, herpes, and facial skin injuries. With herpes and acne, you could spread the infection, and with inflammation and injuries, pressure worsens tissue condition and slows down recovery. In other cases, the procedure is permitted.
