IBEW 213 was chartered 124 years ago on this day, November 6, 1901. We have big plans as we enter into our 125th year, beginning with the 125th Anniversary Photo Contest.

Strike Ends: Rogers Abbotsford Agreement Ratified with Substantial Gains
Yesterday afternoon our striking Rogers Abbotsford Technicians ratified a new 5-year Collective Agreement with substantial monetary and language gains.

It took a 4.5 month strike to get this deal, and the strike will end October 31st. The technicians have been calling for Equal Pay for Equal Work, demanding a substantial reduction in the pay gap between themselves and other Local 1944 Rogers technicians in the Lower Mainland doing the same work. This gap has now been substantially reduced.

The Collective Agreement includes the following pay increases:

April 1, 2025 – 3.75% plus a permanent .49% RRSP employer contribution increase

April 1, 2026 – 3.75%

April 1, 2027 – 3.5%

April 1, 2028 – 2.5%

April 1, 2029 – 2.5%

This amounts to 16%, plus .49% RRSP, over 5 years, one of the strongest agreements the Local has bargained.

The pay gap between Rogers Abbotsford technicians and Local 1944’s other Lower Mainland Rogers technicians is reduced from the current pay gap of 9.2% down to 3.1% by April 2027.

On top of this, the Contract offers the following improvements:
• Improved automation protection
• Expanded and clarified work jurisdiction
• A new annual boot allowance
• New access to the Rogers Employee Share Accumulation Plan
• An additional paid holiday
And more.

This Agreement was earned by the solidarity and sacrifices of our rock solid Rogers Abbotsford technicians, fighting for respect and setting an example of perseverance and worker fortitude for the rest of the Local.

The Local also thanks the Bargaining Committee for their hard and excellent work: Staff Representative Jayson Little, Local Representative Steve McWhirter, and Technicians Keller Reeves and Norbert Torok.
