Most people don’t know their fracture risk until after a fracture happens 🦴
The 2023 Canadian Osteoporosis Guideline outlines how to assess risk early and take proactive steps to support long term bone health.
Risk factors may include:
• Previous fractures
• Family history
• Smoking
• Low body weight
• Certain medications
Screening, including bone density testing when appropriate, can help guide care decisions.
Strength training, balance work, weight bearing exercise, adequate calcium intake, and vitamin D all play a role in maintaining bone health 💪
Bone health is lifelong. Understanding your risk is the first step.
