Today we celebrate Sean S., an HFFS alum whose life continues to show what long‑term recovery can look like when someone commits fully to the journey.

Twenty‑eight years ago, Sean walked through our doors needing desperately to get clean and sober. He made the decision to change his life, and he’s never looked back.

Since then, he’s become a steady presence in the recovery community — serving, supporting, and leading by example. His consistency, humility, and willingness to show up for others have impacted countless lives.

Congratulations, Sean. Your story reminds us that recovery is possible, hope is real, and the work is worth it.

Celebrating Laurie M

Twelve years sober — what an incredible milestone, Laurie M. Your courage, steady commitment, and quiet strength have lit the way for so many. As both an alum and a former team member of Hope for Freedom Society, you’ve not only walked the path of recovery yourself but helped others find theirs.

We’re so proud of the person you are today: compassionate, resilient, and full of hope. Thank you for showing us what recovery looks like in action and for reminding this community that change is possible. Please join us in celebrating Laurie’s 12 years by leaving a message of love, gratitude, or a memory below.

This February, Denise Kennedy stepped away from her role as Women’s Director. While she will continue to bless us by facilitating groups, her season as director has come to a close — and we would be remiss not to pause and honor what she has meant to this organization.
For over 20 years, Denise has poured her heart, wisdom, and unwavering commit-ment into this place. Her leadership has shaped not only programs and policies, but people — countless women and men who have walked through our doors searching for hope and found it in part because of her steady presence.
Denise has always led from lived experience. Her own recovery journey has never been something she simply speaks about — it is something she embodies. Through her honesty, strength, and compassion, she has shown what long-term recovery can look like. For many, she has been the first example that lasting change is possible.
She has sat in hard conversations. She has celebrated milestones. She has believed in people when they struggled to believe in themselves. The ripple effect of her invest-ment will be felt for generations.
Transitions are never easy, especially when someone has given so much of them-selves to a role. But Denise’s legacy here is secure. The foundation she helped build remains strong because of her dedication and heart.
On behalf of the organization, we extend our deepest gratitude. Thank you, Denise, for the years, the prayers, the late nights, the wisdom, the guidance, and the countless lives you have touched.
Your impact cannot be measured —
only deeply appreciated.

In times of profound sorrow, we are reminded of how much we need one another. Hope for Freedom Society joins all British Columbians in mourning the tragic loss of life in Tumbler Ridge.
Our deepest compassion goes out to the families who have lost loved ones and to those navigating the long road of trauma and recovery. We are grateful for the first responders and healthcare workers providing care to the community right now.
Sending love, strength, and hope to the North. 🕊️

🤝 Building Connections, One Goal at a Time
Recovery is about community, and last night at the Vancouver Canucks game was the perfect example of that! 🏒✨
Hope for Freedom Society was proud to stand alongside our partners like Recovery Day BC and Last Door Recovery Society to raise awareness for mental health and addiction. Whether you were at the game or cheering from home, thank you for supporting the thousands of British Columbians walking the path of sobriety.
Seeing our mission of reuniting families and restoring lives represented on such a big stage is why we do what we do.
