☀️ It’s summer, which means more time outside and more hiking adventures! Whether you’re exploring local trails or heading into the backcountry, stay safe and prepared with these essential tips:

1️⃣ Bring enough water and food 🥤🥪 – Staying hydrated and fueled is key! Bring more water than you think you’ll need and pack energy-boosting snacks to keep you going.

2️⃣ Check trail conditions 🌧️🪵 – Trails can change daily. Check for recent weather, closures, or obstacles like fallen trees or muddy sections before heading out.

3️⃣ Hike with others and tell someone where you’re going 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️📍 – Hike with a buddy when possible, and always let someone know your route and when you plan to return.

4️⃣ Wear appropriate shoes and clothing 👟🧢 – Choose supportive, sturdy footwear and dress in layers. Don’t forget sun protection, even on cooler days!

5️⃣ Use designated paths 🪧🌿 – Stick to marked trails to avoid getting lost and to help protect the natural environment.

6️⃣ Be aware of wildlife 🦌🐻 – Stay alert and respectful. Keep your distance, don’t feed animals, and know what to do if you encounter larger wildlife.

7️⃣ Bring safety equipment 🎒🔦🩹 – A basic first aid kit, flashlight, whistle, and map or GPS can make a big difference if something unexpected happens.

Happy hiking and stay safe out there! 🌲🏔️
