Celebrating Life, Acknowledging Loss: At McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel we truly strive to do just that. Our task is to guide and support families through a very difficult time in their lives by tailoring a funeral service best suited to honour the family member they have lost. As Dr. Alan Wolfelt, a well-known Grief Educator has said "Funerals are most meaningful when they are personalized tributes to the unique life and relationships of the person who has died". In keeping with this philosophy we offer a wide variety of choice to personalize your tribute by: sharing memories, memory table, picture boards, stationary options, picture slideshows, etc.. We also have facilities to fulfill the family needs: chapel, viewing room, reception area, casket/urn display rooms, cemetery and crematorium (which is offered right here in Portage la Prairie owned and operated by us). An additional part of our service is Evergreen Memorial Gardens, our cemetery is located just north of Hillside Cemetery (city operated). We offer many different final disposition options including, columbarium, scattering garden, traditional and cremation plots with flat marker or upright marker options. We have created a peaceful, garden like setting in which to treasure memories of your loved ones. Our caring staff is committed to serve you with all of your pre-need requirements. Arrangements vary with each individual family. Rational and logical decisions are made at a non-emotional time with a no pressure approach.
