Thank you, Marine Area Business Association (MABA), for the great profile!!!
I would like to introduce you to our illustrious Secretary - Vanessa Bjerreskov.
Vanessa and her husband Randal Crites own Bodies in Balance, located at 4566A Marine Avenue. In February 2019, Body and Sewl opened as a trio with a seamstress partner. The third partner has since left due to opportunities in another city, so Randal and Vanessa then became Bodies in Balance.
Randy is a laser therapist with over a decade of massage experience in Alberta before moving to Powell River, BC. Vanessa is not only a certified laser technician, but also a Master Spinner.
Their primary business is providing regenerative cold laser therapy for healing of injuries and chronic pain, as well as, rebalancing massage. The cold laser energy helps repair damaged cells by accelerating the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Cold laser therapy can pe*****te up to five inches into tissue and is used to treat a wide array of conditions, ranging from sprains, tendinitis, back pain, and arthritis to surgical scars, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, and fibromyalgia.
They also offer mail-order fibre arts supplies for spinners and weavers. Yes, they know that’s kind of a weird combination, but it works!
Randy had a bad industrial accident in the early 2000s, which led him to make a career change in order to learn to heal himself. Over the last decade he has developed techniques and exercises that focus on getting to the root of the client’s imbalances, and acquired new technology that enhance the individual’s own healing processes. If the traditional medical system throws up its hands in confusion at someone’s pain, chances are pretty good that Randy can help them understand what’s going on and offer some avenues for healing.
COVID has definitely been a challenge, but they have risen to the occasion. Masks are worn at all times in the office, both client and staff. They sterilize the room and equipment between each client. They are using extra cloths in the table face piece – they call it the COVID catcher - in case clients have difficulty wearing a mask while face-down. They are doing laundry on-site to reduce chance of spreading the virus. Also they are scheduling time between appointments so that there is only one client at a time on premises. They stay on top of public health announcements and do everything they can to keep their clients safe and healthy.
In the future, Randy and Vanessa plan to help even more people recover from pain and injury by having another therapist work together with them.
For more information on any of the services Randy and Vanessa offer, give them a call at 604.223.7918. Their business is open Monday-Friday 10am-5pm. Laser treatments are by appointment. You can also learn more about their business at their website: www.rebalancemassage.ca
