Leena was loving life on the track today! 💨💛
She spotted her friends on the other side and absolutely took off to go say hi — the track gives her all the space she needs to stretch out and move freely.

Track systems are wonderful for horses because they encourage:

• More natural movement throughout the day
• Stronger muscles and joints from varied terrain
• Better fitness and overall strength
• Mental stimulation with room to explore
• Healthier herd dynamics as they travel and interact together

All of this helps keep our horses balanced, happy, and ready for their work in our programs.🐴✨

💛 A day at the barn 💛

Semi-Private lessons give our riders the space to grow their skills while supporting each other. After their ride today, these two went over to thank each others horses with a gentle scratch together. Of course Pete loved every second of it!

Kindness and connection like this are just as important as time spent in the saddle.

From training sessions, to Jasper gearing up for vaulting and some fun Halloween costumes - it’s been a busy (and beautiful!) time at the barn. We love seeing our riders, horses and volunteers all growing and learning together!

Behind every great lesson is a team of incredible volunteers.
Each Monday we offer hands-on training for our horse handlers, and this week we introduced sweet Phoebe with a rider and side walkers.
These practice sessions help our volunteers build confidence and give Phoebe a positive experience before entering lessons.
Thank you to everyone who shows up, learns, and grows with us. 🐴💙

Pete got a little clip today to help him stay comfortable as we head into winter. ✂️

Pete has PPID (also known as Cushing’s), which causes him to grow a really thick winter coat. While it helps keep him warm, it can also make it harder for him to regulate his temperature. Taking a bit off helps him feel his best through the season.

He was such a good boy and is looking extra cute now!

✨ Weekend of Learning & Connection ✨

This weekend, part of our PRTRA crew headed to the BC Therapeutic Riding Association Leading the Way Conference , and what a weekend it was!

We dove into sessions on equine choice and consent, volunteer engagement, horse welfare, working with riders with diverse needs, and so much more. On top of that, we had great conversations with other equine-assisted service providers from across the province - swapping ideas, learning from each other, and feeling inspired about where our industry is heading.

We came home with full notebooks, fresh ideas, and lots of excitement to keep growing and improving the programs we offer at PRTRA. 💪🐴

Huge thanks to BCTRA for putting on such a meaningful and important event!

✨ We’ve been so excited to share the start of PRTRA’s inclusive equestrian vaulting program — and the time is finally here! 🐴

In preparation for our official start next week, Jasper had a couple of fun mock lessons with some enthusiastic kiddos. To say thank you after vaulting, the kids give Jasper a sweet little bow 🩵

We can’t wait to see this program grow and share the joy of vaulting with more riders.
