Martina was first introduced to meditation in 2003 to relax and release muscle tension and pain. Wanting to increase flexibility and improve muscle tone Martina turned to Yoga. A gentle non-evasive way to manage and control her ongoing chronic back problem. A compassionate and caring person by nature, sharing the gift of Yoga became a natural part of her journey. Martina received her 200-hour Hatha RYT Certification in 2014, and is operating Y Knot Yoga. A mobile yoga studio located in the Historic Fort Town of Prescott Ontario. Martina is currently teaching regular scheduled classes at The Prescott Health Centre. Understanding the misconceptions behind it, Martina wants to change your perception of Yoga. Whether a beginner or advanced level student, Martina's classes will leave you feeling invigorated, refreshed and relaxed. Martina is a knowledgeable, inspiring and motivating teacher that invites students to explore their body with breath. Her sunny disposition and gentle guidance encourages you to explore the Art of Yoga with an open mind, helping you to escape for a brief moment and settle into the practice with a peaceful heart. Wherever you are in your Yoga practice, Martina invites you to challenge yourself at your own level, empowering and inspiring you to find peace and comfort with every breath. You may not think you have time for Yoga, but Yoga gives you time.

Nothing lasts forever in the dance of life.
Good morning yogis, this will be one of the hardest emails I’ve ever had to write.
When I first got on the yoga mat, I never dreamed that I would become a teacher. But from the first moment I stepped on my mat, I knew it was something that I wanted to share. And because of you, I was able to share the wonderful gift of yoga in Prescott for the last 11 years.
I first began my journey in 2014, and truly it has been an absolute joy to share it with you all.
Throughout all of the trials, tribulations, the moves, the bugs and the fluctuating temperatures we have persevered and gathered to share the love of Yoga.
We have laughed, we have cried and we have grown together over the years. To say I am honoured to have been your teacher would be a bit of an understatement. Together we have unravelled the layers of protection around our hearts and sought peace where pain or hurt may have resided. “Yoga teaching us that love, compassion and joy are all natural qualities of our minds, and the mental struggles because we fail to recognize them and feel miserable”
All of the friendships and relationships I’ve created over the years are so dear to my heart and I want to thank you all. I want to thank you for all the years of rolling out your mats with me and trusting me on your Yoga journey

As many of you know, I have been making frequent trips up to the Cochrane Ontario area, and after much prayer and meditation, I have decided to make the move. I will be leaving the area towards the end of November, so this will be our last session.
However, I will be offering a series of 4 Karma Yoga Classes. What are Karma Yoga classes? Karma Yoga classes are by donation, so you pay what you like. I intend on donating a portion of the funds to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Lunch Program as a way to thank them for their hospitality over the past few years.

Karma Yoga Classes
Wednesday October 22 and 29, 6:30-7:30
Friday October 24 and 31, 10:00-11:00.

My hope is that I will continue to teach in person and remotely, so if there is an interest in online classes, I will definitely explore that option. In the interim, there are regular Yoga classes at Engine House in the North and South end of Brockville

Namaste,
As we leave the hot humid days of summer behind us, we are again reminded to pay homage to the world around us. As the lights dim and the trees begin to release what no longer serves them. Fall offers a gentle nudging that signals to the body it is time to slow down. It is time to soften our hold on life and listen to what the body truly needs. Yoga isn’t about shutting off or forgetting about life's demands, it is about learning about your body, acknowledging the messages and getting proactive about taking care of what your body needs. Learning the art of listening can be difficult if you’re not sure what you should be listening for, signals from the body can include
o Change to breathe: holding, straining , raggedness, holding etc
o Tension: bracing of gripping of the hands , feet, belly, buttocks jaw etc
o Sensations: mild pain sensations, jerky or sticky movements popping etc
o Uneasiness: any emotion or hard to pinpoint reaction that affects ease

Yoga offers a multitude of benefits at whatever point you are in your life. Whether it is just to stay in shape, improve flexibility, strengthen or tone. Yoga can help! Change your breath and change your life!

We start things off with a series of poses linked together offering more dynamic postures focusing on strength, flexibility and endurance. As the class progresses we move into the Yin poses offering more slow paced poses , that focuses on deep stretching of the fascia, muscles and tissue.
