🎄HOLIDAY HEARING ❄️

With the holidays approaching here are some easy tips to help you hear better in noisy environments.

▫️Centre yourself. Putting yourself in the centre of a conversation can be helpful when there is noise around. If you can, avoid areas with extra noise.
▫️Ask for repetition. If you missed what someone said don’t hesitate to ask for someone to repeat. We all want to communicate during the holidays and you deserve to hear those around you.
▫️Take breaks. Find a quiet area to let your ears rest if you are feeling tired. Listening in noise can be exhausting, especially with hearing loss. Take what you need this holiday season!
▫️If you have hearing aids, wear them! If you feel like your hearing aids are not helping enough in noise it may be time to book an appointment for hearing aid adjustments before the holidays. Listening devices can also be helpful during this busy season!

We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and wish you good hearing! If you need any adjustments to your hearing aids or have any questions, let us know!

🤔 DID YOU KNOW?🦻

Many Canadians between the ages of 40-79 years old are unaware they have some amount of hearing loss? That is approximately 63% of men and 46% of women in the country who may benefit from hearing intervention.

If you feel like you are noticing a change in your hearing it is never too soon to have a hearing test! It is great to get a baseline hearing test early in life that can be used to compare to when hearing may change more as we age. You don’t have to wait until you are extremely struggling to have a test done!

If you have any questions about hearing tests, reach out to us!

🧠 DID YOU KNOW? 🤔

Not only do we hear with our ears but a big part of hearing, listening, and understanding is up to the brain!

Our brain has to use the sounds we hear to make sense of what we are listening to around us. We can think of hearing as something we do passively but we have to actively listen - that is our brain working!

✨TIME TO PLAN AHEAD✨

It is that time of year again that life can become more busy! If you’re hoping to hear family, friends, and other loved ones better before and during the holidays it is best to schedule a hearing test sooner rather than later!

Our schedule is filling up fast, but we always keep a cancelation list!

📚 CONTINUING EDUCATION 🧠

Our audiologists take time to obtain continuing education for many reasons!

▫️Continuing education helps to keep us current in new research in the field. This can improve and keep our skills sharp to better serve each of you.
▫️Continuing education also allows for networking with other professionals. This ensures we have other audiologists and health care professionals to discuss unique situations with to overall better care for each and every person.
▫️Lastly, continuing education can help to improve our confidence and feelings of purpose, which results in better work performance.

Ultimately continuing education helps to improve our audiologists, which then improves your experience and results. Education doesn’t just end with our degrees but is lifelong!

🧠 DID YOU KNOW?🦻

The JAMA study found that using hearing aids or cochlear implants was associated with a 19% lower risk of cognitive decline and a 3% improvement in cognitive test scores.

Researchers found these improvements could be due to various factors, including increased social interaction with hearing aid use, which can reduce social isolation that has been linked to memory decline.

Hearing and communication are a critical part of everyday life and our well being!
