The past week was a great success! I gave 29 Neuromovement® lessons over six days. My clients ranged from ages 11 months to 90+!

It's never too late or too early to make new brain connections and improve movement. Thank you to all my lovely clients who welcome me into their homes and those who drive over an hour to come see me.

I'll be back in Manitoba at the end of January for more life changing lessons.

Highlights:
- the joy experienced when a client could now reach behind their back when that was not an easy movement before the lesson
- a parent saying their child is crawling more and pulled up to stand on their own
- a client being able to stand and not have the ankle collapse from weakness
- the warm welcome from each client
- the preschooler who has to tell me the latest news and show me their version of a "handstand"
- new clients experiencing the Neuromovement® method for the first time
- how I'm always amazed at the changes in each client no matter how many lessons I give
-the ability to connect with each client. So often this world is so busy or always changing that we do not have the time or ability to truly connect with one another. That is the greatest gift of this method!

Collagen is more than just the skin or joints. When collagen is not formed properly it affects so much more than the skin and joint capsules. I see a lot of pain, proprioception, stiffness and tension in my clients with hypermobility and collagen issues.

I am excited to take my learning to a new level to help my clients and family with hypermobility. Starting in January I will be taking the training to become an Integral Movement Method Practitioner. The Integral Movement Method (IMM) is a no pain, no strain strategy to movement that allows the body to release stress and tension from the body and replace it with a calm nervous system and efficient movement patterns. Pain and discomfort, often stuck in the body for many years, can often disappear. The IMM is endorsed by doctors and physiotherapists and has helped hundreds of people.

The weather may be blustery and cold but the welcome from clients is warm and cheery! It's a good thing this trip wasn't about the weather but to bring pain relief, new learning and improved movement to my clients. Here's to one last work trip in 2025!

November continues to be a busy month with a lot of stress. I went on a hike this weekend with my family members that didn't have other commitments. It was a perfect sunny fall morning and the views did not disappoint!

Walking in nature is calming to the nervous system and helps reset the stress response. A fantastic way to start the week and a great way to reconnect with family.

This is a fantastic and informative read on some of the latest science on Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and the importance of neuroplasticity and the brain-body connection. Collagen is not just in the joints and skin but also affects brain support and function. Methods like Neuromovement® have a role in supporting the nervous system, and decreasing pain & inflammation.

This week I had the pleasure of speaking at the Oceanside Women's Business Network meeting. My presentation was titled "Nourish Your Mind & Move Your Body: A Holistic Approach to Stress & Resilience". I talked about what chronic stress does to the body. I offered lifestyle and nutrition tips to reduce stress and then led the group through a 15 minute movement lesson.

It was fabulous to see the learning and changes in movement take place during the lesson as well as the joy in new found freedom of movement. It was a fantastic evening with lots of laughter and conversation. I am thankful to be a member of such a lovely organization!

I had the fabulous opportunity to join the crew and fellow guests on Act3 - a local TV show on Rogers TV Vancouver Island. It was a fun evening and a great opportunity to share about my work as a Neuromovement practitioner. The show can be seen for the next month on Rogers TV Vancouver Island or on YouTube https://youtu.be/yUFVIy6NaR8

I highly recommend watching the whole show - lots of music and great interviews. If you want to see my interview it starts at 17:24.

This month I have been focusing on self care, daily Neuromovement lessons and adding more intentional movement into my day. I started the month dealing with a cold that had sapped all my energy and took almost two weeks to go away. Stress lowers the immune system's ability to do it's job. It was time to focus on some self care and nervous system regulation to support my immune system!

This fall season has been extremely tough for our family. Members with chronic health issues have been having one flare up after another, the cold hit everyone in the family, tough decisions have had to be made about what activities and hobbies is there enough energy to do, and there have been a lot of mental health rest days. I have been pushing hard to support my family in all the holistic ways that I know how and researching into new ways as well. I have come to the conclusion that if mom is not healthy, nobody wins.

Today I stopped in at Heritage Forest in Qualicum Beach for a 20 minute walk and reset. I love this forest and am thankful that it has been preserved! Breathing in the fresh air, listening to the birds, meeting so many friendly people and looking at the beautiful trees; such a beautiful healing space! My nervous system felt so good after this walk.

What are your favourite self care activities?

Meet our new greeting committee at Friesen Holistic Wellness! Our two month old chicks are now in the blueberry orchard near the house. When you park your car by the garage you will most likely be greeted by these six cuties. They love running up to the fence and following me as I do my chores.
