Last evening was the Women of Influence Nanaimo Awards Gala! Thank you to for the wonderful evening of celebration. I was honored to be nominated for the Health & Wellness category and to stand up with so many other talented and inspiring women.

Thank you to for my wonderful photo as part of the evening. It was so much fun to work with you!

Thank you to my fantastic friends Diane, Celeste and Chrissandra who made the evening so enjoyable and who were also nominees. .laser.skin.studio and

We were inspired by the words and journey of Catriona Le May Doan. What an inspiration to empower others and to know that we all can make an impact in the world even if we only have a few minutes to do so.

We all have a unique journey that life takes us on. My journey through Lyme disease and supporting my family members with hypermobility has taken me in directions that I had never even dreamed of. I now can support my clients and my family in ways I hadn't known possible a decade ago. Neuromovement®, Holistic Nutrition and now the Integral Movement Method (currently in training) are all now part of what I am able to offer at Friesen Holistic Wellness all because of my health journey and my search for healing. Our stories do not have to limit us or crush us but can be the catalyst to keep moving forward and to make the world a better place!

I don't usually fly from Nanaimo to Vancouver but today my flights got changed from the original plans. I enjoyed the view of all the islands and far off mountains while we crossed the Strait of Georgia. I'm off to Manitoba for another week of seeing clients!

Goodbye mild temperatures and green grass, hello cold temperatures and snow! Brrr... ❄️🥶

The Health & Wellness Award recognizes someone who contributes to the mental, emotional, or physical health of our community, either through the business sector, passion projects, or volunteerism. They set a positive example for wellness and motivate others to lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle. This applies to traditional health practices for humans and/or animals and alternative modalities. This person is in the medical field or is a healer or caregiver. They pick up the mantle of health and promote mind, body, and soul well-being, body-positivity, self-love, and nutrition. They also advocate for positive mental health, encourage belonging and safety, and influence the community in profound ways.

✅ Proceeds from the gala go towards the Footprints: Infertility & Pregnancy Loss Support Society. A Nanaimo-based, award-winning nonprofit that provides free mental health support packets for families navigating infertility and loss. Footprints also drives forward inclusive workplace policies that normalize reproductive health for all.

This is a great introductory video about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. EDS is not well understood or recognized in the medical community at this time. I have clients with EDS as well as hypermobility without a particular diagnosis. This is why I have been attending many EDS webinars and summits through The Ehlers-Danlos Society and will be training to become an Integral Movement Method Practitioner (a movement method designed for working with those with hypermobility) this year. Neuromovement lessons are great at supporting clients with hypermobility as the lessons can help with fatigue, chronic pain, learning how to move the joints and body in safe limits, increase proprioception and calm the nervous system. Combining my learning of the IMM method and my training as a Neuromovement practitioner will be a great help for my clients with hypermobility!

This is part 2 of my story of how I learned about Neuromovement® lessons and how these lessons helped me go to the root of my health issues. Learning to use my body more efficiently to have more energy, reset my nervous system, and keep my bones from slipping out of place.

I am grateful for the opportunity to become a Neuromovement® Practitioner and offer this life changing work to my clients.

I offer one on one lessons in my studio and through mobile services in the Qualicum Beach area. I also teach online group classes! Contact me for more information.

Today I recorded my story about learning about the Anat Baniel Method Neuromovement® and how it helped me reset my nervous system, decrease pain, keep my joints from slipping out of place and help me in my recovery from Lyme disease.

Following movement lesson videos was an important part of being able to access the work of Neuromovement® lessons for my health journey. This is why I have recorded over 30 lessons available with video and audio options. I have these lessons available to view on my website through a paid subscription. I also teach live online classes. My next series starts February 5, 2026. Classes are on Thursdays at 10am and 6:30pm Pacific Standard Time. To learn more about attending the online classes comment MOVEMENT below and I'll send you more information!

The story is told in two parts so stay tuned for part 2!

Reflecting on the past 12 years part 2!

Learn what came next after I retired from my physiotherapy career due to my journey with chronic Lyme disease. There was good that came out of my health journey and I'm so grateful that I can bring that learning to my clients!

Yesterday, Facebook memories reminded me of a life changing decision made 12 years ago. If you want to know what happened, listen to my reflections of the past 12 years and what good has come out of a difficult time and decision. My video was too long and so it's a two part series.
