After an injury occurring over 10 years ago, this person’s neck had chronic pain, and her forward bend was staggered and restricted. Following gua sha treatment in class last Wednesday, she was far more comfortable and able to smoothly drop her chin to her chest 👍
In this series of 3 pics, on the left, we see the beginning of sha (encapsulated heat/inflammatory toxins) coming to the skin surface. These, remarkably, are clearly visible after only 3 very light, smooth scrapes of a quality-edged water buffalo horn gua sha instrument (the best tool). The rub was almost feather-like. My point is; without such a lingering pain irritant residing underneath in the epiphelial tissues, any other show of marking would otherwise be inconsistent with the degree of pressure being applied. Yet, when it’s there - that’s all it takes! Again, the few strokes were simply too light and benevolent to cause anything other than this intended outcome. Similar further (and required) strokes brought all that needed to be brought to the surface to complete the session. What you see on the right is after each section received 30 strokes. These marks will be completely fade in a few days. The positive result of course will last much longer. Provided there are no further dengenerative pathologies relating to the injury, after a few more treatments, when no more sha is brought to the surface, means success and complete resolution.
Gua sha is also the perfect compliment to cupping.
