Women have long been taught to override their bodies.
To push through exhaustion, silence intuition and hold emotions quietly.

Here's the science behind it.

Most forms of exercise activate the body. Dance activates the body and the brain at the same time.

* Memory.
* Coordination.
* Musical timing.
* Spatial awareness.
* Decision making.

Few activities require this much simultaneous processing.

When you learn movement, the brain builds new neural pathways.

This is called neuroplasticity, the brain's ability to adapt, grow, and reorganize itself. The more complex the movement, the more the brain is challenged to stay active and responsive.

Dance is especially powerful because it combines:
* physical effort
* mental focus
* rhythm and music
* emotional expression
* coordination in space

The brain thrives on this kind of layered challenge.

Research has linked regular dancing to:
