What is Yin Yoga? ☯️
In every other style of yoga we are targeting the yang. Movement. Cardio. Strength. We're targetting the fire, the water. 🔥 💧
In Yin yoga, we find stillness. The elements that ground. Earth. Rocks or mountains. Trunks of trees. 🏔🌳
Yin is actually one of the hardest styles of yoga. Being still, letting go of thoughts and distractions is very difficult in a world that is spinning so fast.
We are letting go of muscle engagement, and getting deep into the connective tissues. Holding poses for time. Breathing. Opening.
By holding postures longer, we gently work with the fascia—the complex connective tissue that holds patterns from our movements, stresses, traumas, and lived experiences. From an osteopathic lens, when these tissues soften and rehydrate, the body can release tension not only physically, but emotionally as well.✨️
