Guidance Professional Services Inc. I am an approved therapist for the Breaking Free Foundation. I believe in our innate ability to self-heal which I help you tap into using Brainspotting.

counselling services, therapy, brainspotting, mental health, trauma, addictions, relationships, sports performance, anxiety, depression, safe and sound protocol, brain assessments I am a Master Practitioner in Clinical Counselling and Registered Professional Counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association, a voluntary registrant with the Canadian College of Professional Counsellors and Pyschotherapists, a Clinical Traumatologist with the Traumatology Institute, and a Certified Brainspotter with Brainspotting International. I am an empathetic, non-judgmental therapist who works collaboratively with you to help you NAVIGATE through life. Our brain and body are one system and we need to become more aware of both as we process our issues. A sound, mutually respectful therapeutic relationship and neurophysiological attunement are crucial in helping you NAVIGATE through life. I specialize in trauma, addictions, depression, anxiety and sports performance but also work with all mental health disorders, symptoms, and issues negatively affecting daily life. I have successfully worked with many complex cases and have experience working with clients suffering from PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, domestic violence, and other trauma. Currently, I use an up-to-date brain/body therapy called Brainspotting (BSP). BSP is a neurobiological tool used to locate, target, process, and release experiences and symptoms heldl in the brain and body. Brainspotting helps to de-condition the mal-adapative neuropathways created/conditioned by the brain via trauma and supports the brain's natural self-healing capacity.

Is your dog or cat anxious? Did they suffer trauma? Were they a rescue? Do they excessively bark or meow? Do they react with fear around other animals or people? Do they appear to feel unsafe despite how much work you put into creating safety? Do you feel frustrated and hopeless? Give the Safe and Sound Protocol a try! Backed by clinical trials and real-world evidence, and informed by Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory, the Safe and Sound Protocol is a listening therapy that utilizes specially filtered music to help retune the nervous system. The nervous system is part of the biology of all mammals and helping shift it can be life-changing for your pet and your family. Its comments like these that warm your heart and keep you moving forward.

“I can’t thank you enough for what you have helped me realize. I told my partner that it took over 30 years to really come to terms with my childhood with the right person at the right time. It’s changed a lot for me.” Paraphrased and anonymous

Therapy (specifically Brainspotting) works! If you haven’t tried it, take the first step to get started.

David Grand on how Brainspotting and EMDR are different:

“Brainspotting makes use of fixed eye gaze on relevant eye positions. EMDR uses eye movements (smooth pursuit, not saccades).

Eye fixation and eye movements are opposites.

Brainspotting’s relevant eye positions are established with high attunement, EMDR’s eye movements are not.

Brainspotting is articulated as using relational attunement, EMDR does not.

The foundation of Brainspotting is the Uncertainty Principle which does not exist in EMDR.

Brainspotting is frame-based, EMDR is protocol-based.

Brainspotting attempts to bypass the neocortex to directly access the subcortex. EMDR accesses the neocortex with it’s cognitions (negative and positive) and cognitive interweaves.

EMDR is an AIP (Adaptive Information Processing) Model, Brainspotting does not.

Brainspotting is articulated by the Neuroexperiential Model, EMDR is not.

Brainspotting is a developmental model (generational, intrauterine, birth, preverbal) EMDR is explicitly not.

This game was so fun to watch. Many of you know I am a huge soccer fan. This post isn’t about really soccer though. It’s a reminder to do your best, whatever is your best. Sometimes we feel we have to rise to the same outcomes as those around us. It’s not true! We are individuals. We have unique brains and experiences. If we do better than what we did the previous time, we are doing better. We don’t have to score big game goals, climb mountains, or beat records (unless we want to of course). If getting out of bed today is better than we did yesterday, it is better. If we return a call today we had difficulty returning yesterday, we are doing better. Raise your own bar! You do You! We are here to support you in doing just that.
