Which diaphoretic is your household favorite? Ours is yarrow 💚 Not only it is super abundant here & so I always have some (which can be 1/2 the battle)... it also helps curb accompanying flu-time nausea 👌
I was surprised to read on Health Canada's web site the advice to take Tylenol if you have coronavirus to reduce fever. Everyone who knows anything about the immune system and viruses knows that an increase in body temperature kills viruses as well as ramps up the white blood cells. Yes, fevers can rage out of control, causing brain damage and death. But that is not most fevers. Here are some guidelines:
Chills are a sign that the fever is building.
Sweats are a sign that the fever is breaking.
A conservative temperature for a "high" fever is 39.5 degrees.
If a fever is rising above this number take a cool sponge bath.
Herbs called diaphoretics help keep a fever active enough to kill a virus and low enough not to cause damage to the body. They flush the heat out to the surface of the body by dilating peripheral blood vessels. Diaphoretics are best as teas. Drink hot in small sips, frequently. Here are a few diaphoretic herbs. There are many.
Elderflower (my favourite because it is also very relaxing).
yarrow, boneset, linden flower, catnip.
Hydration is also important. Small sips of warm water.
Signs a fever is dangerous are:
Severe (severe is a key word here) headache and cramping, including neck pain.
dizziness and confusion
If you are sick and having a hard time getting a fever to burn low, take a hot bath, extra blankets and hot ginger tea. Add a little honey.
Be thoughtful, you have everything you need. More info needed.... https://www.healthline.com/health/cold-flu/fever-in-adults -its-serious
