Speaker at the National Convention for Dietitians of Canada
Topic: Understanding Eating Disorders
June 8, 2019, in Ottawa, Ontario and Available Online
This seminar will look at the issues of eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and overweight/obesity), diagnosis, issues of treatment, and treatment options. Our speaker brings a unique perspective to this topic as both a dietitian and psychotherapist/counsellor and will address the questions of when to use a multi-disciplinary team approach, when to refer out for treatment and, most importantly, practical ideas of what you can do as a dietitian. Participants will leave this session with an understanding of the diagnosis of eating disorders; updated research, use of cognitive therapy, knowledge of the stages of change, use of mindfulness and other issues in the treatment of disordered eating.
