We are proud to be part of the Canadian Association of Community Health Centres as it celebrates 100 years of advancing community-based health care. This milestone recognizes a century of commitment to accessible, inclusive, and community-driven health services across Canada. At Regina Community Clinic, we are honoured to contribute to this legacy and continue supporting the health and wellbeing of our community.

Celebrating 100 Years of CHCs in Canada
Community Health Centres (CHCs) are community-governed, non-profit organizations that deliver comprehensive, team-based primary health care to people facing barriers to access. Integrating primary care with mental health services, health promotion, and social supports, CHCs address the social determinants of health and advance equity in communities across Canada.

Over the past century, the CHC model has evolved in response to changing community needs. What began as localized efforts to serve underserved populations has grown into a network of organizations delivering interdisciplinary care, advancing health equity, and strengthening communities across the country.

Mount Carmel Clinic, Canada’s first CHC, is celebrating 100 years of community-driven care in Winnipeg, a milestone that reflects the impact of CHCs across the country.

(From the International Cooperative Alliance)
Eliza Brierley opened the path in 1846 when she became one of the first women to claim her place and her vote in a co-operative.
Eliza’s Project carries that legacy forward — uniting women CEOs from across co-operatives and mutuals to champion leadership, advance equality, and uphold the values of democracy and inclusion that define our movement.
A stronger, more inclusive future starts with women leading the way.
