Almost like was reading my mind-
I think this will resonate with a lot of you-take a read and let’s chat.

“At this time of the year we always post this message as a reminder to connect with loved ones and friends through out the holiday season🎄This very well should be a daily reminder as we all have been guilty of this when messaging a friend or family member. Ready to unveil our struggles and then thought it would be too much to explain, it would be a burden on them or would they even really care...

We get it as the holidays don’t always feel merry. It’s okay if the holidays are complicated for you or someone you love. The pressure to be “happy” can make things feel heavier, and it’s easy to feel isolated even when surrounded by family. This year, let’s intentionally choose conversation over avoidance. Reach out to those who seem quiet. Share your own feelings if you feel safe doing so. A simple, “How are you really doing?” can break through isolation. Conversation is an act of care; it allows us to bear witness to each other’s experiences, making the load a little lighter for everyone. “❤️💚🤍

The Power of 19.

It’s a number that’s shaped my life in ways I’ll never forget.

On November 19, my dad took his life.
Three months later, on February 19, my son was born.
On August 19, I got married.
And my daughter was due on November 19 but due to complications she was induced and I chose to bring her into the world a day early to create just a little space between grief and new life.

From yesterday’s highs celebrating Sammantha’s 16th to today’s heaviness, I feel the full spectrum of what it means to live with love and loss intertwined.

Even though I can kind of understand why you did what you did, the grief that followed has been a different kind of grief entirely, a different kind of mindf**k that some days still feels unbearable.

When I think back to that time, I was six months pregnant carrying the weight of new life while carrying your coffin. The amount of stress my body held while grieving you, while trying to protect the tiny heartbeat inside me, is something I’ll never forget.

It reminds me just how incredible the human body and spirit really are that even under the heaviest grief, even while breaking, it can still bring life into the world. My son was born three months later, healthy and strong proof that somehow, we can hold both devastation and creation at the same time.

They say time heals all wounds, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it doesn’t. It’s been 21 years, and this day still feels as raw as it did when it happened.

I once heard someone say, “When someone takes their life, the sadness doesn’t end it’s just transferred to those left behind.” And I know that truth all too well.

I’ve lost several loved ones to su***de, more than I can count on one hand from my dad’s side alone. Sometimes it feels like a family curse, one I’m determined to break because, I’ve also survived my own attempt.

So today, I’m standing in both pain and gratitude. For the life I still have, for the people I still love, and for the purpose that was born from all of it.

If you’re in that dark place, please reach for light -someone will meet you there. 💛

I can’t believe my little girl is 16! 💛

From off-roading adventures to being my official market driver and right-hand MVP, Sammantha has been there through it all.

She’s tagged jewelry, packed orders, run markets, Canva and computer mastermind, and reminded me to laugh when things got messy and no market day starts unless there’s a Starbs in hand. Truly, she’s been part of every heartbeat behind Isla Rae.

Fun fact -the name Isla Rae Jewelry was inspired by her- Sammantha Rae ♡

Watching her grow into a smart, kind, beautiful young woman has been my greatest joy.

Love you Samm

Happy Sweet 16, Sammantha ♡

A few of my favourite things….

Along with teaching and gift to the adolescent wards & connecting at markets- one of my favourite things to do is creating meaningful pieces for you. I love that I can bring your story to life with your inspiration and ideas. Here’s a few snapshots of some recent items YOU designed and I had a hand in making🫶

If you are wanting to create something meaningful for someone or for yourself- I am still taking a few custom orders before Christmas- just slide on into my DMs and let’s make something that speaks to you.
