Stop Smoking Strategy #10 SSS10 - Use the 4 D’s instead of smoking. Drink water, Delay the cig, Distract Yourself, and Deep Breathing. If you don’t like water add some lemon or mint to improve the taste. Put the water in a beautiful goblet so it feels fancy to drink it. Delaying the cigarette might help you to eliminate the ones that really aren’t even needed - instead of waking up and lighting up, just wait and see what happens. Distract yourself from smoking by doing something else, AND Deep Breathing is a great way to cleanse those lungs and start clearing the body of toxins. Use the 5-5-7 breath. Breathe in for a count of 5, hold for a count of 5, and exhale for a count of 7. Do a few rounds of this breath. ’s
