Meet Larry Worthen.

Larry is the Executive Director of the Christian Medical and Dental Association of Canada and one of Canada’s leading voices on Medical Assistance in Dying.

For decades, he has worked closely with physicians and healthcare teams across the country, navigating complex questions around ethics, conscience rights, and end-of-life care.

He has also advised governments and contributed to policy and legislative discussions on MAiD, including safeguards and protections for both patients and healthcare providers.

This May, he’ll be travelling across Saskatchewan to share insights, real experiences, and open up space for meaningful conversation. We can’t wait to visit Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Yorkton, Weyburn, Moose Jaw, and Regina.

Medical Assistance in Dying has changed significantly since it was first introduced in Canada.

What began as legislation focused on end-of-life has expanded over time, with further changes planned for 2027 to include mental illness as a sole underlying condition.

Understanding this timeline helps make sense of where things stand today and where they may be going. Many Canadians still believe Medical Assistance in Dying is only available at end of life.

That’s why we’re hosting conversations across Saskatchewan this May, and coming to a location near you!

Recently I welcomed Eric Gurash to my constituency office to discuss the importance of Bill C-218, which will prevent medical aid in dying for people suffering from mental illness.
