I am Susan Rever - I started my personal journey as 'The Organictarian' when I developed health issues in 2010 and I learned that the 'health food' I was eating and the personal care products I was using at the time were contributing to my diseases/disorders. Since then, I have been on this journey to reverse my conditions and gain back my health. I am happy to report that it has been over 4 years since I have reversed my conditions. I now enjoy using my education/knowledge and experience to help other people become healthier.
I have two MSc degrees - Biology and Environmental Science/Geography. I have been teaching in academia for over 15 years. My background is interdisciplinary with BSc degrees and diplomas/certificates in more than one discipline i.e. biology, botany, horticulture, environmental science/geography, aromatherapy, nutrigenomics, dietary supplements, health & safety. I have taught in the Department of Biology at the University of Regina, and in the College of Agriculture and BioResources at the University of Saskatchewan. Some of the courses I have taught as a sessional lecturer and/or laboratory instructor are human biology (i.e. genetics, evolution, physiology, anatomy, epidemiology, nutrition), biological principles (i.e. cell theory, genetics, homeostasis, metabolism, energetics), ecology, environmental science, soil science, sustainable agriculture, food science/security and the Kingdoms Animalia, Plantae, Fungi, Protista, and Monera.
Before attending the University of Regina, I majored in horticulture at Olds College in Alberta. I have been working with plants/herbs for over 20 years. I am also a clinical aromatherapist, and have worked for both the provincial and federal governments here in Canada.
I have been working in the health and wellness industry for over 10 years as a holistic health and wellness consultant. My specialities are autoimmune diseases (gut/digestive health, leaky gut syndrome, pH balance, and food intolerances/sensitivities) and hormonal issues. My mom was diagnosed with Celiac Disease over 20 years ago before there were gluten-free sections in the grocery store. I developed 3 autoimmune/endocrine disorders in the same year (hyperthyroidism, Grave's Disease and stage 4 endometriosis). I reversed all 3 of my conditions using holistic approaches. Autoimmune disorders run in my family (thyroid and diabetes).
