Living in harmony with the seasons and learning to pull from the teachings, gifts and blessings of the natural world is something that has been essential for me in navigating life's many challenges, and being able to live it to the fullest despite what it might bring my way.

Fall is the season that teaches us how to let go. Our gardens are harvested, fruit pulled from their vines, crops removed, flowers shrivel, plants die, trees lose their leaves, many animals begin their preparations for their deep sleeps of winter. Yet nature doesn't balk at this process, nature in its inherent wisdom knows to let go, to allow the transition to happen with all the grace of the changing of the colours of the leaves, knowing in its silent awareness that after a restorative winter spring will come again.

As humans we have aspects of us that are designed to want to clench with white knuckles and tight fists to the familiar, the comfortable (even when it has become uncomfortable), the known, and the thought of letting go, exhaling, releasing, surrendering feels impossible. The other side feels to frightening, invokes feelings of loss of control, or in many cases the concern that letting go, or surrendering means "giving up" and since we are unaware of the nuanced by vital difference between surrender and resignation, still we hold tight.

I have had first hand the experience of the need to let go this month. On September 8th my beloved father was taken back to Creator as his body breathed it's final breaths in my company. Not many things are harder than loss and the subsequent grief that follows. For me, allowing the tears to flow, and act as fertilizer for whatever may be the next chapter to be written for me on the other side of this pain (analogous to a long hard winter), and trusting that, as nature does, when my own metaphorical spring comes it will be a beautiful time of rebirth.

If you are going through your own season of transition and would like help with whatever time of change, transition, loss, or grief that you may be experiencing, come out TONIGHT - Sunday, September 21st from 7:30 to 9 pm is the Fall Equinox Sound bath. Special guest Jack Semple will be there with myself and creator of the Sun Series, Tara Semple. Sound is a powerful tool for release, transformation, and healing, and this series was designed to support us through all of life's transitions through the celebration of the seasons.

Tickets are going fast *we hope you can join us!

When I was asked where my passion for naturopathic medicine came from, my answer was simple: my family.

I’m so grateful to my parents for introducing natural health and holistic living to us at such a young age. Those early lessons shaped the way I see health today—and planted the seeds for the work I do now as a Naturopathic Doctor. 🌿

Sometimes, the values we grow up with become the passions we carry forward. This is mine.

When most people think of the pancreas, they think digestion—but this little organ does so much more. It’s also a hormone powerhouse that helps keep your blood sugar stable.

When the pancreas isn’t working properly, it can lead to imbalances like blood sugar crashes, fatigue, constant cravings, and even more serious issues like diabetes.

Your pancreas may be small, but it plays a big role in how you feel day-to-day! 💛

Change can be one of the hardest parts of life… and yet, it’s also one of the most important. It’s how we grow, evolve, and step into new versions of ourselves.

The truth is, the “messy middle”—the space between the old and the new—can feel uncomfortable, even scary. It’s full of uncertainty, and that’s when anxiety often tries to take the driver’s seat.

The best way through?
✨ Stay present in the now
✨ Trust that the Universe is rolling out its Red Carpet for you
✨ Care for yourself, your loved ones, and what matters most
✨ Loosen your grip on what was, so your palms are open to receive what’s next

Change is rarely easy… but it always carries the potential for something even better. 🌸

If you feel called to, feel free to share a season of change that you worked through- recently or in the past, and how it was navigating through it!

💌 I’ve been thinking about change a lot lately because there are a few exciting shifts happening at Prairie Sky Health over the next month or two. We can’t share all the details just yet—but keep an eye here on our page … some beautiful new things are on the way! What do you think it could be?! Share your guesses in the comments!

When life gets chaotic, one of the simplest (and most powerful) tools you have… is your breath.

Deep, intentional breathing—just 10–15 mindful breaths, 3x/day—can do more for your nervous system than you might imagine.

It helps:
✨ Balance your stress hormones
🧠 Optimize brain chemistry
🫁 Regulate your nervous system
💓 Create a sense of calm & clarity

Repeat for 2–3 minutes. You’ll be amazed at how different you feel.

💬 Have you tried breathwork before? What helps you come back to yourself in stressful moments?

Continuing on with our hormone health series, today we’re diving into the small but mighty thyroid gland—a butterfly-shaped gland located in your neck that plays a huge role in how your body functions every day.

When the thyroid gets out of balance—either under-active/ Low (hypo) or overactive/ high (hyper)—you can feel it everywhere.

Also worth knowing: nestled within the thyroid are your parathyroid glands, which regulate calcium levels—critical for bones, muscles, and nerves.

The thyroid is deeply interconnected with many systems of the body—when it’s off, so is your energy, digestion, mood, and often your sense of self.

✨ If you’ve been feeling “off” and aren’t sure why, your thyroid could be trying to tell you something. If You Suspect Thyroid Imbalance?

📍 Start by tracking your symptoms
🧪 Get proper thyroid testing (TSH, T3, T4, antibodies)
