Understanding the Transition from Snake to Horse

This is a long read, but I think you will find it valuable.

I wanted to take a moment today to clear something up, because I am seeing a lot of people saying that we are already in the Year of the Horse now that 2026 has begun. It is a beautiful idea, but it is not actually how the Chinese zodiac works.

Each zodiac year is not determined by January 1st. It is determined by the Lunar New Year, which always falls on the second new moon after the Winter Solstice. That is the moment the energetic archetype of the new zodiac year truly activates.

This year, that date is February 17, 2026, under a New Moon in Aquarius that is also a solar eclipse. That is when the Year of the Fire Horse officially begins. That is when the horse energy arrives fully. That is when the archetype shifts.

Which means that right now, even though the calendar says 2026, we are still in the tail end of the Year of the Snake.

This matters because these energies work together in ways that influence how we feel as we move from one year to the next.
Moving from a Nine-Year to a One-Year: There is another layer to consider. In numerology, 2025 was a nine-year, the end of a cycle. And 2026 is a one-year period, the beginning of a new cycle.

The nine-year period is a period of release, endings, clarity, closure, and shedding. It is the moment life asks us to let go of everything that cannot come with us into the next nine-year cycle that began in 2017.

The "one" year is the energy of rebirth, new identity, new direction, new intention, and the clear statement of “I am.”

So we are already in the "one" energy of 2026… but the snake has not yet left us energetically.

Why the Snake Still Matters Right Now: The Snake teaches transformation through shedding. It asks us to let go of layers that no longer fit. It guides us into deeper truth and deeper alignment.
As we move into 2026, the numerology says “begin.”But the snake says, “Not quite yet.”

Right now, we are in the in-between.

Think of it this way: When a snake sheds its skin, the new skin underneath is tender, raw, sensitive, and exposed. It takes time for the new scales to strengthen. It takes time for the snake to feel fully ready to move with confidence and speed again.

That is where we are.

We have shed so much in 2025, especially in the final months. We are entering the new year with fresh skin, new clarity, and a different sense of who we are. But this new version of us still needs rest, softness, protection, and time to integrate.

The First Six Weeks of 2026
The energy between now and mid-February is a period of:
• integrating the lessons of the past nine-year cycle
• restoring our inner strength
• rebuilding our energy
• allowing the new identity to settle
• healing the raw places
• slowly stepping into the “I am” of the one year

The number six is significant here, too. Six represents growth, expansion, nourishment, stability, and the early sprouts of new life. It is supportive energy, not rushing energy.

So the first six weeks of this year are not about launching yourself into massive action. They are about letting the new skin form, adjusting to your new self, and honoring the transition.

Then the Horse Arrives!

When the Lunar New Year arrives on February 17th, the shift will feel immediate and powerful. The Fire Horse is bold, passionate, determined, rebellious, magnetic, and unstoppable!

But the Horse will not ask you to gallop if you are still healing the skin you just shed. You will be ready for that momentum only because the Snake prepared you.

So for now, give yourself:
• rest
• recalibration
• gentleness
• slow integration
• softness
• trust

Your new scales are growing. Your new identity is forming. Your next chapter is approaching.

You are not behind. You are not late, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Give yourself these first six weeks to restore, integrate, and settle into your new skin.

The Horse will call you soon enough, and when it does, you will be ready to run!

How to Work With Snake Energy: Preparing for the Fire Horse
Now that we understand we are still in the final stretch of the Year of the Snake until the Lunar New Year on February 17th, I want to share how we can work with the Snake rather than against it. These next six weeks are not a mistake, a delay, or a pause for no reason. They are an essential part of your transformation.

Snake energy is powerful, spiritual, intuitive, and deeply connected to renewal. It teaches us how to shed, heal, and emerge.
Here is how to move with it.

1. Honour the shedding process
Snake energy invites you to let go of the skin that no longer fits. This is not metaphorical. It is real. You have been shedding beliefs, identities, relationships, old dynamics, and heavy emotional layers throughout 2025. The shedding is not finished yet.

Ask yourself:
• What is still clinging that I know needs to go?
• What habits or emotional loops no longer belong in my life?
• What part of me is trying to stay when I know she is done?

Let the answers surface gently. You do not have to force the release. It will come naturally as you move with the energy.

2. Protect your new skin
A freshly shed snake is sensitive. The new skin is thin and highly receptive. That is where you are right now.

This is why many of you may feel:
• extra tender
• emotionally sensitive
• easily overwhelmed
• more introspective
• less social
• less tolerant of drama or chaos
• more protective of your peace

This is not regression. It is integration. Your new self needs protection while it strengthens.

Give yourself:
• quieter days
• slower mornings
• early nights
• gentle movement
• nourishing foods
• boundaries that hold firm
• fewer obligations
• more space to breathe

This is how your new self becomes sturdy enough to carry you forward.

3. Stay close to your intuition
The Snake is one of the most intuitive archetypes in the entire zodiac. It does not move from logic. It moves from the inner knowing. This is the perfect time to practice listening to your instincts.

Notice:
• the pull toward certain people
• the desire to withdraw from others
• urges to reorganize your life
• intuitive nudges about what is coming
• clarity rising out of nowhere

This is the Snake guiding you toward the clean break that the Horse will accelerate.

4. Release what cannot come with you
You can use these weeks to clear out what has expired.
This can look like:
• cleaning your home
• tossing what feels energetically heavy
• unfollowing people who drain your spirit
• saying no more often
• letting relationships naturally fade
• releasing obligations that feel forced

The Snake values clean endings. The Horse values bold beginnings. You need both.

5. Rest more than you think you should
This is crucial. The Fire Horse is one of the most dynamic, energetic archetypes in the zodiac. Once February 17th arrives, there will be movement. Fast movement. Inspired movement. Breakthroughs. Opportunities. New directions. Momentum.

Your body needs rest now so it can meet that energy later.

So if you feel tired, you are supposed to. If you feel slow, you are supposed to. If you feel like cocooning, you are supposed to.
Let yourself recharge. Let yourself rebuild. Let yourself integrate.

6. Prepare the soil for the next chapter
The Snake clears the field. The Horse ignites it. Use this time to gently prepare your mind and spirit for what you want to begin in 2026 after the Lunar New Year.

Think about:
• Who am I becoming?
• What does the next version of my life look like?
• What am I craving?
• What direction is calling me?
• What would I choose if nothing held me back?

This is the foundation that the Fire Horse will launch you from.

7. Trust the timing
You are not late stepping into 2026. You are right on schedule.
These next six weeks are a sacred, energetic space. You are healing, transitioning, restoring, and preparing.

When the New Moon in Aquarius and the solar eclipse arrive on February 17th, the shift into the Fire Horse will be undeniable.
You will feel ready, clear, capable, and renewed.

You will not be shedding anymore. You will be rising!

If a six-week integration plan for moving through the Snake phase would support you, let me know. I can create a complete guided journey for this transition if you'd like. My New Year's gift to you! Just comment below if you're interested. I am making it for myself, but happy to share it!

Yule Rituals: A Fiercely Feminine Invitation

Honoring the Twelve Nights of Yule fits beautifully into the Fiercely Feminine journey because it brings us back to the ancient rhythms that women once lived by. These rituals invite us to slow down, soften into presence, reconnect with the earth, and move through the darkest season with intention rather than pressure. Yule reminds us that darkness is not something to fear. It is a place of creation, reflection, and quiet rebirth. That is the heart of the feminine.

I chose to include these rituals in my own life because they help me stay rooted during a time that often feels chaotic. They help me stay connected to my body, my intuition, and my inner light. They also remind me that I do not have to rush into a new year. I can move slowly, honor what I am leaving behind, and consciously choose what I am becoming.

I am sharing these rituals with anyone who feels called to explore them because I know how powerful it is to create meaning for yourself during this season. You do not need to follow every step. You do not need to belong to any specific belief system. These nights are simply an invitation to live more intentionally, to honor your own cycles, and to return to yourself in a deeper way.

If these practices speak to you, let them guide you. If not, let them inspire you to create your own. The Fiercely Feminine path is ultimately about living in alignment with who you are becoming, and these rituals offer a soft, grounded place to begin.

Before we move into the rituals of the season, I want to share a bit of grounding information about Yule. Many people have heard the word, but not everyone knows what it actually refers to or where it comes from.

Yule takes place on December 21, which is also the Winter Solstice. They happen on the same day. Yule is one of the oldest midwinter celebrations in Northern Europe. Long before Christmas existed in any form, Germanic and Norse communities gathered at this time of year to honour the darkness, welcome the returning sun, and strengthen their connection to the land and to one another.

The pronunciation has shifted over time. Most of us say "Yule", but apparently, historically, it was closer to Jul or Yool. It was not a one-night event. Depending on where you lived, Yule could stretch several days or even up to twelve nights. The Solstice itself was the anchor point. That was the moment when the daylight reached its lowest point and the sun began its slow return. For people living in the far north, this was not only symbolic. It meant survival. It marked the turning of the year at a time when winter felt long, heavy, and isolating.

Yule was never just a single ceremony. It was a collection of customs that varied from region to region. Scandinavian folklore describes evergreens, fire, and large gatherings as ways to push back the physical and spiritual weight of midwinter. This time of year was seen as a thinning of the veil, a liminal period when the Wild Hunt might ride and when ancestral spirits could draw closer. These beliefs help explain why Yule expanded into multiple nights rather than being held to one specific date.

Traditional Yule practices included feasting, honouring ancestors, burning a Yule log for protection, decorating with evergreens to symbolize endurance, and taking omens or messages during the nights between the old year and the new. The twelve nights of Yule appear in folklore as a time when blessings, warnings, and guidance were believed to come through more clearly.

When you look at this history, it becomes obvious why there is so much crossover between cultures. Almost every region of the world has some kind of winter solstice celebration. Some honour the dead. Some honour gods or goddesses. Some welcome the sun. Some simply acknowledge the turning of the seasons. These old customs often blended together over time, which is why so many rituals feel familiar even if they come from different traditions.

This is why I want you to remember something important. There is no perfect or correct way to celebrate Yule. There never has been. It has always adapted to the people who practiced it. You can honour it spiritually, culturally, symbolically, or simply because it feels meaningful to you.

Do not overthink any of this. Explore what resonates. Leave what does not. I have found rituals that do not fit my beliefs and I will not use them. I have found others that feel deeply aligned with where I am in my journey and what I want to call in. Those are the ones I will be sharing with you.

You can follow along with the rituals I post, choose the ones that speak to you, or create your own based on your culture, your spirituality, or your intuition.

This season is ultimately about light returning, in the world and within ourselves. Let the rituals guide you back to your own center.

As the wheel turns toward the Winter Solstice, I can feel the pull into a slower, more sacred rhythm. Yule is approaching, the time when the longest night opens the way for the returning light. It is a season that honours nature, the feminine spirit, and the quiet renewal that happens when we allow darkness to do its work.

This year I will be beginning my Yule season on December 20 with Mother’s Night, a night that has been honored for centuries. Mother’s Night is devoted to the Great Mother and to the mothers who came before us. It is a time to acknowledge the lineage we rise from and the feminine wisdom that shapes our lives. It is a soft, intimate doorway into the Solstice energy.

Some of the traditional ways to honour Mother’s Night include:
🖤Lighting a candle for your maternal ancestors
🖤Offering milk, honey, bread, or flowers on an altar
🖤Writing a letter of gratitude to the women who have influenced your life
🖤Inviting the Mother within yourself to speak
🖤Wrapping yourself in blankets with something warm to drink
🖤Setting intentions for how you wish to be supported and guided during the winter season

Mother’s Night represents the womb of Yule. It is the place where new light begins its journey.

On this night, I will also be creating an Ice Altar for my Solstice ritual. It is a simple and beautiful practice that connects me directly to the land. I will fill a bowl with pine or cedar, rosemary, cranberries, orange slices, and cinnamon. In the centre, I will place three taper candles to represent my past, my present, and my becoming. Once the bowl is filled with water, it will rest outside overnight to freeze. The forming ice holds every intention I whisper into it.

On December 21, the Ice Altar becomes part of my Solstice ritual. I will bring it inside and light the candles. The slow melting of the ice feels symbolic of the softening that happens within us when light returns. It is a reminder that we are allowed to thaw, to open, to receive.

For the rest of the season, I will be weaving Yule practices into my days. Gentle rituals. Grounded moments. Small ways of choosing presence and connection over hurry and pressure. This month, I want to live in rhythm with the earth rather than the expectations around me.

P.S. - This isn't my ice altar, just a reference. I will post mine after I create it.

As we move closer to the Winter Solstice, I find myself drawn to the ancient rhythm of Yule. Yule marks the longest night of the year and the sacred turning point when the light begins to return slowly. It is a celebration honoring nature, the divine feminine, and the quiet power that lives in the dark before dawn.

Yule begins on the Winter Solstice, but I will be starting my celebration one night earlier on December 20 with Mother’s Night. Mother’s Night is one of the most sacred parts of the Yule season. Traditionally, it is a night devoted to honoring the Great Mother in all her forms. It is a time when we acknowledge the women who came before us, the feminine wisdom that lives within us, and the nurturing energy that holds our families and communities together.

Mother’s Night reminds us that everything begins in the dark womb of creation. It is a moment to honor the mothers of our lineage, the mother within our own spirit, and the mothering energy that brings healing, guidance, intuition, and protection. It sets the tone for the entire Yule season by inviting us to soften, to receive, and to reconnect with our feminine power.

From there, I will weave Yule rituals into my entire holiday season. I want my December to feel less like chaos and more like sacred connection. I am bringing in rituals that help me return to my body, connect with the earth, and awaken the feminine energy that knows how to receive, soften, and rise again.

I will be lighting candles to honor the returning light.

I will be grounding myself with nature whenever possible.

I will be creating small daily moments that remind me of abundance, empowerment, and the deep wisdom that lives in my own spirit.

I will be moving through this month with intention, honoring both the darkness that shaped me and the light that is calling me forward.

If you would like me to share my daily Yule rituals with you throughout the season, comment below and let me know.

If your feeds have been filled with talk of portals, energetic gateways, endings, openings, and massive cosmic shifts, you are not alone. Days like today tend to stir up a lot of conversation, especially among sensitive and intuitive women who feel the world through their bodies long before their minds catch up.

I want to break it down for you in a grounded and informative way. No fluff. No fear. Just clarity.

What is actually happening in the collective right now...

Three major influences are converging at once, and together they create the energetic experience so many of us are feeling.

1. Solar activity is unusually high. We are moving through an extended period of intense solar flares and geomagnetic storms. Science tells us these storms can influence our sleep, mood, clarity, emotional regulation, and intuition. Many people report headaches, pressure, fatigue, sudden heaviness, or sudden insight during these times.

2. We are closing a collective emotional cycle. Energetically speaking, this time of year often brings a natural ending. It highlights what is no longer aligned, what has run its course, and what we can no longer pretend is working. Old patterns surface so we can finally release them instead of dragging them into the next season of our lives.

3. Numerology and collective meaning-making amplify everything. Specific dates carry symbolic significance. When enough people collectively focus on reflection, completion, or opening, the energy intensifies. Sensitive women feel this amplification the most because their systems pick up subtle shifts in consciousness.

None of these events alone is dramatic. But together, they create a wave of emotional and energetic movement that many of us are riding today.

What you might be feeling right now...

If you are feeling any of the following, you are responding exactly as your system is designed to:

• heaviness or fatigue

• emotional waves that come out of nowhere

• pressure in the head or chest

• disrupted sleep

• a feeling that something is ending or shifting

• a sudden intolerance for anything that drains you

• an urge to purge, clean, delete, or let something go

• clarity about what no longer fits in your life

• sensitivity to noise, drama, or other people’s emotions

• a desire to be quiet, alone, or grounded

This is not weakness. This is your body aligning itself with truth.

How I am feeling this shift personally...

I have felt this surge very clearly these past couple of days. It is showing up as a deeper need for boundaries, a need for emotional honesty, and a strong desire to release anything that feels chaotic, untrue, or heavy. My body feels tender and tired. My heart feels open and raw. My intuition feels louder than usual.

There is a very real sense of shedding. An understanding that the old way of doing things or relating to certain people is no longer acceptable for me. Even though it feels emotional, it also feels like relief like my system is trying to free up space for something better.

I guess that many of you are feeling something similar in your own way.

What this shift is helping us move toward...

This is the part that matters most. None of this is happening to overwhelm you. It is happening to support your next level of alignment.

This shift is guiding you toward:

• clearer boundaries

• deeper self-respect

• emotional honesty with yourself and others

• the release of heavy or outdated relationships

• more intuitive clarity

• a stronger sense of what you actually want

• a softer, more grounded way of moving through the world

• a new chapter that is built on truth instead of obligation

Energetic shifts like this strip away what is false so that what is true can finally take shape. They help you see what you have outgrown. They help you remember who you are becoming. They allow you create a life that is rooted in self-trust, self-honor, and emotional integrity.

If things feel tender today, know this is a doorway. Not a breakdown. A beginning disguised as an ending.

You are clearing space for what is meant to grow next.
