We came across this artist recently and it stopped us in our tracks.

JANOA. He writes and sings about loss. Not the kind that gets wrapped up neatly, the kind that lingers. Their description reads: "JANOA. is not a person. It is a feeling."

Something about that hit us.

Music has always known how to go where words alone can't. It finds the grief we don't know how to say out loud. It sits with us in the quiet. It reminds us that what we feel is real, and that we are not alone in feeling it.

Some songs don't just move you. They meet you.

JANOA. is that kind of music.

đŸŽ” Look up JANOA. — Take a listen to " Mama "and "Daddy."

Looking for something to do this weekend?
Go watch Hal; Single L

A Dance/Theatre Performance by Kathryn Ricketts

The Artesian

April 11 – 7:30 PM

April 12 – 2:00 PM

Tickets at https://oncueregina.ca/

Limited Seating

Hal sports a beige fortrel jacket embellished with brown braid and boasts a hand-embroidered emblem claiming him as a Regina Agribition dignitary, all accompanied by a hat blazoned with a bronze bull. Hal’s voice is amplified at times by a terrible crackling mic as he delivers a range of stories of lives lost.

Hal is a bad comedian an auctioneer, a square dance caller, a hoarder, a farmer, and a bull.

Hal; Single L brings both tenderness and humor to a topic that is difficult for all of us and rides a range of emotions embracing drama, comedy and lyricism. A bittersweet humor is laced throughout the piece that promises to both entertain and move audiences.

This prairie-influenced and time-soaked piece has been developed over two years through residencies here, in the States, and in Europe with draft showings providing critical and valuable feedback. After this substantial period of development coupled with enthusiastic audience responses to it’s various drafts, I am excited to say that Hal; Single L is ready to premiere!

“ I left the performance thinking about all of the people who I would hope got to see the performance in the future and that list is still growing today.”

“You know it’s been months since I came to this performance, but I still feel the very personal and emotional connection that I have with it.”

We love seeing the heart behind Cadence and the meaningful work they’ve been doing for families.

As a small, family-owned funeral home, we deeply believe in what they offer. The days and months following a loss can feel overwhelming, and having guidance through estate matters and paperwork can make such a difference.

Cadence walks alongside families in a way that is practical, supportive, and truly needed. We are grateful to be able to offer their services to the families we serve.🌿

Today marks 6 years of Cadence.

Six years of building something that, at one point, didn’t exist because it felt impossible.

After losing her mom, Rachel quickly saw what families go through behind the scenes; the calls, the paperwork, the accounts, the systems no one understands.

Not one process, thousands.

Banks. Government. Telecom. Social media.
All different. All complex. All falling on families in the middle of grief.

And no one had solved it.

So she started mapping it out one call, one process, one system at a time.

Years of figuring out something most people never even see.

Before Cadence was a platform, it was Rachel sitting at kitchen tables with families manually filling out forms, preparing envelopes, walking through it with them step by step.

Because this was never just about building technology.
It was about making the impossible feel manageable for families when they need it most.

The first funeral home to believe in that vision?

Saskatoon Funeral Home and Morgan Edwards, who had supported Rachel’s own family years earlier.

A full circle moment that still means everything today.

Six years later, Cadence has grown into something bigger than what Rachel first imagined, not just supporting the administrative side, but helping funeral homes extend care far beyond the service.

Because you can’t take away grief, but you can change how supported families feel within it.

And that’s what continues to drive everything.

To the funeral directors who see this every day, who know how heavy it can be for families, and who believe there’s a better way to support them.

Thank you for being part of this.

And to everyone who believed in something that didn’t exist yet, thank you for helping make it possible.

A meaningful opportunity in our community

About a year and a half ago, we had the privilege of connecting with a family who showed such quiet kindness during a difficult time in our community.

They are hosting an upcoming gathering, Navigating the Journey of Grief, and we wanted to share it on their behalf.

Grief can feel isolating, unpredictable, and overwhelming - and spaces like this can offer understanding, connection, and gentle guidance.

This session will include shared experiences, practical insights, and a chance to sit alongside others who understand.

🌿 April 18, 2026
🕰 Registration 9:30 AM | Session 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

We’re so looking forward to welcoming Opie to Sage tomorrow.

Our space was always meant to be more than a funeral home-a place for connection, gathering, and meaningful moments within our community.

Grateful to share this time with Opies Connection - Psychic Medium tomorrow!!

I am feeling so incredibly excited and honored. ✹

Tomorrow, I have the privilege of holding space with 50 beautiful souls at Sage Funeral Home in Regina, Saskatchewan.

These intimate gatherings mean so much to me. To sit together in connection, to gently open the space for Spirit, and to hopefully bring forward messages that offer closure, comfort
and yes, even a little laughter. This work is something I truly live for. Bridging Spirit and community in a way that feels safe, supportive, and deeply human.

I am especially grateful to Sage Funeral Home for their openness and trust in creating this kind of experience. They are doing such meaningful work in building a community that honors each person’s unique grief journey, beliefs, and lived experiences. That kind of inclusivity and compassion deserves to be recognized and celebrated.

What makes this even more special is that this gathering is by donation, supporting two incredible organizations: Caring Hearts and the Regina Food Bank. Both are doing vital work in their communities, and I feel so grateful to be part of something that gives back in this way.

If you feel called, I invite you to explore and support all three of these beautiful organizations. đŸ€

I can’t wait to share more about the experience afterward.

With gratitude,
Opie đŸ€đŸ©”đŸ’™

Connection with Spirit is a community gathering hosted by Sage Funeral Home, in partnership with Opies Connection, Psychic Medium.

During this unique event, Opie will share messages and impressions received from the spirit world, offering attendees an opportunity to witness moments of connection, reflection, and possibility. While not everyone will receive a personal message, many people find the experience meaningful, comforting, and thought-provoking.

This event is also about community. Instead of a ticket price, we simply ask guests to bring either a monetary donation for Caring Hearts or a non-perishable food item for the Regina Food Bank.

Whether you're curious, open-minded, or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend an afternoon while supporting local charities, we invite you to join us.
