Some learned to heal correctly
before they ever felt safe refusing.

Tiger’s Eye forms in bands of gold and brown—
long associated with discernment and personal authority.

This week, it reflects the Over-Compliant Healer:
the one who learned how to heal
in ways that kept others comfortable.

Agreement before certainty.
“Yes” spoken while the body hesitated.
Safety confused with compliance.

These weren’t habits you chose.
They formed where cooperation felt safer than refusal.

Consent isn’t an add-on to healing.
It’s part of the treatment.

Where in your life did “yes” feel safer than “no”?

Many people learned to heal correctly long before they felt safe saying no.

In helping professions — and in many relationships — the ability to read a room, soften tension, and respond quickly with care is often praised.

Over time, this pattern can become what I think of as the Compliant Healer.

Agreement comes quickly.
“Yes” appears before certainty.
Safety becomes confused with cooperation.

These responses are rarely conscious choices.
They often formed where compliance once felt safer than refusal.

In counselling work, this distinction matters deeply.

Consent is not simply an ethical requirement.
It is part of the treatment itself.

The work of healing is not about performing care correctly.
It is about creating conditions where people can respond from certainty rather than obligation.

This is something I often think about not only in counselling, but across many helping professions — including education — where care and responsibility are essential.

Sometimes the most important work is learning how to recognize the difference between true agreement and practiced compliance.
